in the end the cost of fabrication, and all the misc. radiator hosing and custom stuff just wasn't worth it on my budget:( (you have to custom make a filler for the coolant because now the radiator cap is lower than the top of the engine... so the coolant will not fill properly)

Well wouldn't it still flow through the same? I mean what does having it higher than the engine matter, doesn't the pump take care of that? The filler cap on top would have to be extended up and probaly to the side of the IC but why wouldn't it fill properly?

Also, the way i see it i'll save money...pic up a core for a few bills, a performance alluminum rad for some muscle car(no need to pay $500 for one to fit my car when i gotta custom make mounts and everything anyway) and then extend the filler, make some endtanks and piping, get some fans off a sentra/altima and dats it...probaly have it all done for under a grand where as if i was to buy a fluidyne rad, fmic kit, and some fancy fans i'd be well over 1500....

For those of you living in CALI, this is a letter I got from Signal Auto, regarding their V-Mount system:

Hi xxxx, About the V-mount intercooler, there is NO KIT available for the project. There is a lot of fabrication that has to be done in order for it to be V-mounted. This, unfortunately, is quite expensive and your car would have to be at our location for several days. Thank you for the inquiry,

Well of course....they can charge more that way...but if i'm not mistaken the only real modification to the car would be cutting the rad support, so if a template was devolped that can be used to mark where it's to be cut and all the mounts make use of existing holes etc then it shouldn't be a problem....but there probaly isn't enough interest to be able to sell it anyway, there might be one or two others here that would by a v-mount kit...

Think of the reduction of lag though.. Compare the lengths of thoes ic pipes to a front mount. Thats alot of volume reduction. Does the ic get the same amount of air in that position?

hence the ducting in the front of the car, that'll speed things up a bit. Your radiator will get plenty of air and so will your ic if ducted properly

materials alone will cost over $1200. Then labor will be rediculously expensive from signal. Probably more than $2500 if i had to guess.

Would anyone buy a kit for $1400-$1500 if all you had to do is make a small cut on your rad support...and all mounts use existing holes, etc...all polished, rad, ic, pipes(hot and cold), all alluminum...

Just wondering if its worth my trouble to make templates of all the peices i gotta make up for mine...

I dont see why you have to cut the rad support. In the second Signal photo it looks like the rad has been tipped backward and the IC is just bolted to the rad support. that would be easy.

even if you did, the simple solution is to use a more narrow core.
