^ back in the 70's, I was a kid (an early Saturday morning)on an empty stretch of the NJ turnpike in my dad's old V12 Ferrari, loafing along at 55mph in overdrive, when a dude in a gussied up Camaro came up beside me trying to get me race him. I just smiled, downshifted to 3rd and floored it. Left him a cloud of blue smoke. Hit 110mph in 3rd in the blink of an eye before shifting to 4th, clicking on overdrive then coasting back down to 55. There is no better sound than the shriek of a V12 above 5000 rpm. He passed me slowly grinning and nodding his head.
<That's the only time I ever street raced.

^ my focus, it was a SVT version that constantly broke down and drove like s***. I would stress out taking it anywhere far thinking something is going to break, so i always took my 190k oil burning 240sx that i didnt give a damn about.

< back inside though. At least it stays light longer and I'm headed for a drive to providence in the miata today!
< liked SVT focus until I started doing my research. Holy s***, what an unreliable, awful f*** car. I felt bad for the owners
V read edmunds.com lately? I think they've been removing the negative "user reviews" for cars of all ages lately. That site is the reason I found out the focus sucked so much.

^ On the rare occasions that I smoke, It's either a fresh cohiba or a pack of black and mild wood tips. I quit the whole 420 business a while ago.
< Wish I chimed in on the best 'kill' moment bit. I have three: My friend's VR6 swapped, cammed and slammed 92 golf killed the crap out of a modded sti by busses. The guy's reaction was priceless, mind you this golf was intended to be a show car. The other was when I was in my 380k mile beat up mercedes, and this loud rsx started tailgating me. He tried to step on it, but I just sat back and floored it. Cloud of smoke + reaction by that guy getting off at the nearest exit = priceless as well.

The other? I was in a v6 rwd Isuzu rodeo. The other was a silver rsx. He revved at me, and I beat him by a car's length. I was lolling.

^ that Gti''s are slow? Depends what you compare them to.
^^ Heavy, it was a Ferrari 330 America. In 1964, Ferrari replaced their sexy 250GT2+2 (3 liter V12) with the 4 headlight 330 GT 2+2 (bigger 4 liter V12). But had a problem. Pininfarina's new bodies were not ready. So the first 50 330 GT 2+2's had the 250 GT 2+2 bodies but with the bigger 330 engine. All 50 went to the US labelled 330 Americas. This was one of them. We owned her for a good 20 years.
Where is it now? My dad sold her in the early 90's to the nephew of the original owner at the height of Ferrari-mania for twice it's value. Months later the Ferrari market collapsed. I knew the nephew had repainted her bright red and tried to sell it a few times but he was asking too much for her. He may or may not still have it now 20 years later, but it's finally appreciated above what he paid for it.

<owned a 1975 VW rabbit long ago, but not a GTi

< a friend beat me to buying the same RX-8 once upon a time. I'm glad he got it, the thing was CONSTANTLY in the service bay. premature cat failure, blown seals, a second gear grind, and eventually a suspension failure of some sort. All before turning 50k.
