I got a couple things on my mind. Some of you might have read my post on the SR20DET forum about how I'm making contingency plans in case something happens to my Maxima. I was thinking of getting a 240SX and enjoying a bit of 4-cyl fuel economy and RWD performance for a while.

Where did you people get your 240's (S13 AND S14)?

I'm thinking of getting a 240 and keeping it NA with a done up suspension and brake upgrade until I got tired of the KA24, then I would start thinking about a SR20DET.

I would probably have only $7,000 to buy the car with, then about $2k for mods and repairs. I look at autotrader almost once a week, but I don't see any consistently fair prices.

Well about 2 1/2 years ago(when I bought mine) 240s were not popular or high in demand and they were cheap. But do to the recent SR20DET craze and all the magazines eatting up the 240s and not to mention they are not made anymore so are sorta rare, its gonna be harder and harder to even find one. And due to their new found popularity the prices have boosted up quite a bit(alot).

yea, and 5spds are also harder to come by, however most 24o's are in need of body work atleast, not to mention most s13's need mechanical work and have about 13ok on them now

I honestly think 5k is a bit pricey for a 91. Then again though, different area, I noticed you are in Canada by the KM rating, I dont know how much 190km is. I know you can get 95s and stuff for like 4-6k.

Little phrase used by stone cold...Can I Get a Hell Yeah!!! That is outrageous for a 91. 5G's.....LOL I paid 1100 for my 90 SE. Sure it didnt have Super HICAS or LSD, but I could care less for HHICAS and LSD can be had rather cheap. The SAD thing is, some desperate guy will buy it.

On to topic...you have to be patient. I watched and waited for 4 months. I was actually looking for a Z32 and came across the 240. I never knew what a 240 was until this year....LOL. My only two preferences fro my next car after I sold my Altima were 5spd and Nissan (although I would have "settled" for a 88-91 CRX or 92+ prelude). I read about the 240 on message boards and what not. And the only reason I knew what an SR20 was is because at altimas.net the question can I swap a SR20 into my Altima is asked a gabillion zillion times a day. So I searched and searched for a Z32 project or 240 project. Z32's are more rape than 240's. 1990 NA in jacked up condition with a bazillion miles---7000. No way. I just happened to email this chick. No one had inquired about her ad for 2 months. She wanted to get rid of it and gave it to me for 11 instead of her original asking price of 1800. I know how it is to want something, but I would rather get a fair deal, than get *** raped just to have a damn 240. they arent that special to me. I would sell my 240 for cheap if I didnt have an RB20 coming. FWD, RWD drive it doesnt matter to me. There is a nice B14 SE-R on ebay I was eyeing. 2000 bucks. I want it BADLY:mad: I also wasnt picky on where it was. I went from North Dakota (spitting distance from canada) to Florida. Drove to TX and then to ND. All for a 240 (and to visit my mom) Decent condition for a 90. Had some dents and scratches, but othing major. Just keep looking.

yeah, 5g's is way too much for a 91. I just looked at a 95 se 5 speed with 94k super clean interior and paint looked brand new and the dealer only wanted $4900. It had brand new kyb's and an aftermarket cd deck too. I wanted to trade my base S14 plus cash for it but they wouldnt take mine as trade. Oh yeah, I paid $2950 for my 95 5 speed but it needed $600 worth of bodywork and a stereo. Just keep your eye out, sometimes people will let their car go for nothing just because it has a few easy to fix problems.

I paid 2600 for my 240. It is a 93 SE that had 163,000 miles on it when I got it. No CD deck, or speakers. But it had some bad *** racing stripes, and 14 in. chrome pacer wheels and some body damage. The car was in horrible condition but with a little bit of work it is a nice car now. check it out atHttp://members.aol.com/soadpogoboy/240sx.htm

i paided about $5500 for my 96se, she was babied through her life as far as i can tell, 94k(still purrring) and lil nicks and dents here and there but what do you expect from a car being in italy for over 2 1/2 years, some cars around here look like they have been in demolition derbys or rolled down a cliff

I paid 750 for mine, it's a 92 hatch, need ssome bodywork, but I replaced the blown clutch myself. I'm about 1400 into it now, and that is passed inspection, needed brakes, a new radiator, and stuff like that. So, 1400 for a car with a lot of new stuff isn't bad, and it has proven itself very reliable so far. Of course, I did the work myself, so that lessened the cost. Anyway, keep looking, a deal will come!!

I paid 2000 for my 90 hatch. Then found another 90 hatch and my dad got it for 300, then i paid 1200 and my 90 hatch for my 89 coupe. If your wondering why i traded its because I like the coupe better and it had half the milage of the hatch. Anyways these cars prices vary way to much. Welcome to NICO we will not have your baby so please do not ask. Have fun use the search blah blah blah Im sure this has all been said to you before. :batman

i got my 89 for free from my Uncle..Just had to buy a radiator and a battery...a sunvisor, and the little plastic piece around the door handle..other than that..and an interior cleaning it was perfect..It has 194,000 miles on it but it runs wonderfully and it's only gonna be a daily driver for me anyway....Good luck with your find though

I paid $3500 for a 1991 SE Hatch

Pricey, but this is my fault because I was rather picky and didn't want to look for 6 months :-)[It is quite hard to find descent 240SXs around here--Clarksville, TN]

Hatchback (I need alittle bit more luggage space :-), 5speed, sport package (VLSD/Super HICAS), "semi-low" miles (130k), non-trashed interior (only driver seat worn--trying to find some [leather] fairlady seats) and good mechanical shape--not perfect, but nothing a little TLC can't fix :P

I paid ~2900 for my 93 coupe (listed as SE...but I dunno wtf was going on with carfax). Doesn't matter to me...as someone on this board has said no power options = more speed.

I plunked down $3000 for a '91 SE hatchback with all mod cons (SE package, HICAS/VLSD/ABS, sunroof, everything) with 130k on the clock.

It was a little high but worth it to me, the car runs like a champ. Finding a good one takes time, I was looking for over half a year before I bought mine.

I paid $3500 for my 89 coupe last summer. Overpriced I know, but the paint and body are both in very good condition. There are a few scratches on the bumper where some @$$hole bumped me, and I've had to replace a bunch of stuff, but it's been worth it. Great first car to learn about.
