geez louise, haha. Dammit, and I thought I would be safe w/ my 4 hood pins & vented hood. Wouldn't have had this problem if I had a stock hood, haha.ForsakenTH wrote:hood pins are good but they dont always work...same with vented hoods. i have a friend that runs a Monty in drag...runs in the 10s range. anyways he had 4 hood pins on a cowled hood...he took it down the track once and the hood pealed back ripping the hood pins out of the frame. needless to say caused a lot of damage. reason was he took his inner wheel fenders out so the air built up under the hood from the wheels stuffing it all in there. even with the cowl and pins it still blew.
nice to see you on here Lookout Matt...dought you remember but i used to post on DG too
Welcome to the forums, coool. Post pics of your car w/ the hood in the correct place - looking forward to seeing you around the boards.Lookoutmatt wrote:Yeah, that's me, I was all scatter brained, it was my top 32-top 16 qualifying run, The car was getting hot, so I was constantly spraying down the Rad, and IC. Got in the car to move up in line, and just forgot about it, strapped in, and woops.
I have the rear of the hood propped up with spacers, so I guess it did it's job of making a vacuum under there, I was entering that turn at upper 80mph range (top top of 3rd, KA-T) So when it cracked sideways, PABLOW!!!! I jsut looked under the crack, pulled the hood, did my two qualifying runs.
Thanks for all the compliments, And the color is Citron Metallic off of a 1970 plymouth superbird
