Im getting about 1/2 dollar sized spots coming from what appears to be the top of the transmission. It comes down the electrical harnesses and pools up where the harness's plug in after the trans near the driveshaft.

there is no vissible spinning deflection from oil, or leask at major joints. Its definately trans fluid thats running down the harness's.

Anyone got any suggestions about where its coming from. It doesnt leak down the sides of the case either, just down the harness.

Turbine sensor.

Not fun to replace. Do the rear main seal while you have it apart.

Do a search in Infiniti Mechanic.

wow, thanks for the posts guys!

I cant see under the car well enough to pinpoint it but i spoke w/ Joe today and he seems to confirm its the revolution (turbine?) sensor thats leaking.

Whats the expected cost to repair/replace? Im weighting whether or not im man enought to do it or too lazy and would rather just pay.

The local dealer here in No. Virginia wanted $1,200 to replace the turbine sensor. Instead I had it done at a quality transmission shop for $600. As noted, it is a good idea to replace the rear seal too since the trans has to be removed and the seal is relatively inexpensive. This seems to be fairly common on the Y33 models, which overall are very reliable.

Get the parts from Joe and it should be about $400 labor. No fun without a lift, a transmission jack, air tools, and a strong buddy, if you have the experience and knowledge.

well, i've done transmission swaps, pulled engines and parted VW's. I can honestly say i think my days of serious manual labor are done. I just did a FMIC on my buddies jetta this weekend and what a total PITA. Cutting hardened steel rebar blows. I have to do the suspension on my Q45 when it comes time, but i think i'll just pay a shop to do the sensor and i dont want to deal with coolant and freeon loss.

Shouldn't be any coolant nor any Freon losses.
