Stock airbox, MAF, ZTube, Throttle Body. That's the order it goes in. The Z Tube just replaces that plastic piece that has the 'chamber'.
^correct...

I found some pix when I initially installed the Z tube.

Did yours come with new couplers? I only got the tube itself and getting my stock couplers on it was a PITA. I literally broke 3 nails and cause the pillow under my right middle finger nail to burst/bleed. It was RIDICULOUS.

If you bought them separate, where!? Infiniti only sells the whole tube for $100 (the stock tube).

My guess it doesn't heat soak as much and because it's smooth inside it doesn't slow the air down. It's basically a ram air setup.

Uhh....$64 on EBay. Better than spending $300 on an intake which HURTS your power.

CPJ LB wrote:it's fine that you're doing the tune Ilyakol...like you said, the short list of mods you have will be fine without a dyno.

in addition to the eco map, my tuner has it set to where if I were to floor the gas or get on it...the sport tune automatically kicks in -- that was a bonus feature. (for emergency purposes like getting out of harms way, etc)

I keep my setting in 'sport' for the majority of time...but also in eco setting.

my mpg has ranged from 15 to 19mpgs (depending on the type of driving and setting)

as far as power added from the tune, yes...it's provided, but it also depends on the supporting mods...here is a breakdown of my prior dynos and I've had the Uprev for over a year.

FACTORY RATED 06 M35sport at the flywheel = HP: 280 TQ: 270 (which is rated very low at the wheels)

Initial Uprev
3/22/11 - Baseline run 91 octane
NEAR STOCK (K&N drop in, stock mufflers w/xpipe and 2.25"piping from cats) =
power at the wheels:
whp: 229 @ 5953 A/F: 13.79
Tq: 228 @ 4938

3/22/11 - Adding TUNE: UPREV w/Osiris
power at the wheels:
whp: 252 @ 5952 A/F: 12.98
Tq: 238 @ 4767

4/18/11 - 91 octane(5/16 MD plenum spacer, K&N drop in, z tube, 2.25" dual exhaust piping from cats - xpipe, high flow resonators - to stock mufflers)
power at the wheels:
whp: 265 @ 6300
Tq: 245 @ 4745

11/15/11 - 91 octane
(5/16 MD plenum spacer, MD MREV2, MD Isothermal gasket, K&N drop in, z tube, G35 Ypipe,Megan exhaust 2.5"mid pipes & axle backs, NGK spark plugs)
power at the wheels
whp: 282 @ 6408
Tq: 255 @ 4693

*Test run for lower end tq: 270 @ 2691 rpm

I now have HFC's and will put on the Motordyne xyz pipe to get a test run on numbers, but from my butt dyno, since adding the HFC's I've felt a huge difference in overall power...the car definately pulls hard.

Driving in manual mode allows you to use the entire powerband...I don't go past 7000rpm to prevent wear and tear of the rods, springs, etc(as you can see the majority of my HP is at approx 6500rpm's)...those that have built motors don't have to worry about going "too" high in the rpms....

the best thing I enjoy is the drivability of the car..."its more fun to drive"....

I am interested in the mrev2. I've heard that its actually a good look for feeling power throughout the powerband. Did you feel a difference when you added that immediately ? I am curious about that and the 5/16 plenum spacer. Do you feel the power with them alone ? I have the injen cai n stillen catback system already.

The couplings for the z tube were from the stock tube and I had extras....the z tube allows free flowing air....I got mine for cheap.

Hey Twizz...the mrev2 did give me power ...very noticeable. A lot of pulling power. Not sure with a CAI....are you tuned?

So it is worth it to get the MRev2 then ? I was trying to see if it was necessary. The guy at the tuner shop was telling me to do whatever add ons I would be doing, n then come to them for the tuning. I may have to look into this. Thanks man

I was in the same position TWizz and a friend of mine who has a 96 Maxima (stock it has a 3.0 motor) that is swapped with a VQ35, 6spd VLSD, and turbo...told me the MRev2 isn't worth the money unless you can find a used one for a great price.

He said same thing with headers and cats.

My plan is to do the spacer (tomorrow morning or late tonight), ZTube, and eventually mufflers and possibly mid-pipe.

But it really depends on your plans for the car. My plan is to just 'open her up'. She's powerful enough for me as is.

It is powerful you are right. But I just like that feeling of knowing that most other 6 cylinders cant see me off the line. I mean I am no racer, but right now I am a bit of an enthusiast, so I feel like I'm soaking up this mod bug lol

...the Mrev2 is a great mod...I lucked out by buying mine used off of a forum member -- he had it in his modded G35 coupe...I did the install myself (I have pix in a post I did when I added the Mrev2 and gasket)...the isothermal gasket is a great mod as well...keeps temps really low thru the plenum.

Brand new, the Mrev2 was too much money (IMO).... keep looking at the classifieds within Infiniti forums...they come up often.

I think you will see / feel the benefit of the plenum spacer...

***btw, I just installed the MD xyz pipe (had it stored in my garage for awhile and was using a stock ypipe w/the HFC's)...WOW!! the car really opens up more.....I plan on getting a dyno next Saturday...they've been booked for awhile....

I just finished installing the thermal spacer and the plenum spacer. Car doesn't seem THAT much different, but I think after the UpRev it'll be a whole nother animal.

Alright...got my Cipher cable and datalogged the car. Send UpRev the logs and the following:

I finally got my UpRev Cipher Cable and here is what I'm sending to UpRev along with my datalogs for them to do the eTune:

Year: 2007
Model: M35x
Cruise Control: Yes
Modifications: Intake, Intake Plenum Spacer
Kind of Intake: 350z/G35 ‘Z Tube’
Kind of Plenum Spacer: Motordyne 5/16” Copper Iso Thermal (includes Throttle Body heater)
Other Mods: Completely stock cats, exhaust, headers, mufflers, etc.
Tune for: 91 Octane (according to Richard, since I live in NY and always buy 93 – I can run 91 without issue for when I travel outside of the state which is often).
Desired Idle RPM: 750-800rpm
Map 1: Stock; Stock Rev Limiter, Stock Speed Limiter
Map 2: Tuned Map/Sport; Stock Rev Limiter; No Speed Limiter; 2 degree timing advance; WOT at all speeds setting you reference on your site
Map 3: Economy; Stock Rev Limiter; No Speed Limiter; best MPG’s as possible
Map 4: Valet; 2,500 rpm Rev Limiter, 25 mph speed limiter
Map 5: Security; Please make this a kill switch. I heard other M owners saying theirs is set so the car won’t start, etc. Please let me know if this is a problem.

Can't wait!

bump'n this thread to see if Ilyakol has feedback on his tune....

I think if you get the Mrev2 you will see more gains (including your spacer & Z tube)

my update on my tune and mods: (added BERKs HFC's) got retuned and gained the following =
10whp & 10wtq

So the HFC's provided power to my current mods!!! I will have the HFC's removed in order to pass my SMOG test next week...Then I'll put them back on

Here is what I wrote on another forum when asked (may have been slightly heat of the moment but for example, I haven't gotten any news/updates since the 11th).

-----------------------------------

Haven't gotten tuned yet.

UpRev has been less than speedy in some of their responses. They usually get back to emails around 6pm-7pm...so I have to wait entire days before I can hear back from MY last reply. Then I had some issues with the cable they sent me (wouldn't fully detect on some XP machines but worked fine on my new Windows 7 laptop). Then, the dealer I called gave me one ECU part number but Cipher/Osiris is seeing another one. So I needed to do an ECU dump that took 2.5hrs to do (car just sitting idling for that long).

Also, I couldn't get the right datalogs for them because of the ECU issue (I didn't have all the necessary parameters checked because I couldn't see them). Had to finagle Cipher into allowing me to see those. That took like 2-3 days of emailing them, etc.

It's been a cluster f*** thus far IMO. For $500, I'd expect immediate responses. I work odd hours right now, so I can't be calling them during their business hours...but at least get back to me via email quickly. You building/working on so many cars that it takes you 24hrs to respond to emails?

I finally sent everything they needed in (correctly) two days ago, so I'm hoping to have a tune after I get back from Europe in early June. I'm leaving on the 19th.

^ damn bro!!! I'm sorry to hear this happening to you....

I'm amazed to hear that Uprev took so long to help (resolve) your issue...

Hopefully it'll be a better ending... good luck with everything...

...I think they should refer you to a nearby tuner in order to give you free dyno runs!!!!

Yeah me too. And free dyno runs would be nice. It really has dragged on more than it has needed to. I will admit that I wasn't able to respond to them on an occasion or two, but usually I did the next day or day after. But they have gone 3-4 days between responses a bunch of times already. I believe I bought this at the middle of April (12 or so). It's now almost June.

I will be asking them for 15% off though...or some other form of compensation.

Got another update. They finally have what they need so now they need to build my custom ROM since my ECU hasn't been logged in their system before. Should have it within a week or two, so, after I come back from Europe.

Another update. Tune arrived in my email this evening. I went ahead and flashed it to the car and everything seems to be working as it should (tune #'s lining up, parameters such as RPM, etc. lining up).

Butt dyno isn't making me feel much...but I will get it dyno'ed when I get back from Ukraine in early June and we'll see what I end up with.

You won't have gaps if you get a genuine infiniti bumper. I have one on mine and fits perfectly...no gaps.
Where did you get the part for your 06-07 M35 to 08 Sport bumper swap?

What parts did you buy exactly?
I tried searching this site but no one lists the exact parts ordered.
Can you list atleast the numbers you ordered?

I definitely feel a difference, maybe even hear (as my tune is set to WOT at all times). I have not had a chance to go to a dyno yet.
