I'm getting a vlsd soon but in the meantime all I can really do to the old s-13 are interior mods. My latest is upgrading the sunvisors. My old ones were slipping in the clips, the flaps over the mirror weren't holding, and the grey just did not go well with a black headliner.

I found a set of Q45 visors..lighted,black,plastic hinged cover and fabric covered. They fit the indentions in the headliner on a 240 perfectly and just require drilling two small holes to relocate the clips. I'll be recovering the headliner at some point(just dyed now) so the old location won't even be noticable and they aren't wired now but will do that at a later date. I used the 240 clips because the clips for the Q45 would require drilling a hole too close to the windshield. Care still has to be taken drilling the holes. Put some tape on the bit to keep it from going through the outer roof..Anyway,,here's pics of the 30 minute,$5 change...It really is black! The flash makes it look a lot lighter...

Thanks!.Iit even blocks the sun a little better because of the shape.. The biggest problem with it might be finding Q45 visors with good hinges. I tried ones from a 89 Pulsar before and they don't need mods but are super flimsy!! These don't have any give to them...

I already said I'll be rewrapping the headliner so there won't be holes. They bug me a little but not visible when the visors up. I really wanted to know how well they would fit before wrapping the headliner to see what adjustment would be necessary. It won't take much to make them look nice...I'll post a pic after getting the headliner wrapped . On a functional level I'm happy with them now..

just an update on this...I just recovered the headliner and changed the Q45 visors for j-30's(93 model). The j-30 visors don't have the huge plastic labels so they look cleaner but mount in the same places the Q45 visors did. I also wired them while the headliner was off. If you alrady have the map lights wiring is a cinch. Just make sure to get the connector from the j-30 donor and enough wire to splice it in...here's the pics....[

I like it. As stated ^ the holes would have really bothered me, but since you re-wrapped the headliner, they look perfect. I'm sure they're a big improvement over the wimpy stock ones.

I would however, miss that little pocket the driver's side has on it. It's handy.

When you recovered your headliner did you strip the old material off?? If so what did you use?

Looks sweet...great job!!!

You should do a writeup, the current writeup for a headliner to be recovered is pretty gay and in MS paint, you really have to use your imagination. Its also quite vague.

Do you even have a headliner. Last I saw was white roof with vagina pink lights.

That actually looks really good now that you covered the holes.

I did not strip off the old stuff. In fact ,I think it would be nearly impossible to strip it and keep the liner intact. Those liners really get kind of fragile over time. I used 3M 9090..the heavy duty spray. Covering it wasn't really as hard as I thought it would be. I just cut the material, sprayed glue on both headliner and material and did it in 12 inch sections. . You do NOT have to be super precise with the headliner. There is enough overlap onto the panel with plastic trim ,etc so you can actually use short staples around the sunroof opening and interior light opening. The only part requiring some care are the humps near the sunvisors. Just don't be afraid to use the glue there and be sure to let it have at least a ten minute drying time. I used a pretty stretchy material I got from Walmart for about 3.50 a yard..It took one but I bought three. You really don't have to wrap the liner at the edges if you use the staples(with the exception of the front edge by the windhield. )You have to wrap that part since nothing covers it. I don't have the rear seat belts in so I'm going to cover those rear posts(hatch) in some of the material after I fiberglass the seat belt mount holes shut. The material I got has a grain pattern very close to the pattern stamped in the plastic..should work good. Hardest part by far was getting the visors on. You'd have to enlarge the post holes a little(I LOVE dremels!!) and be sure to use enough wire wiring them to have two inches hangin...easier to stuff it in the headliner that way..I cut mine a little short and it was a pain

If you don't have the map light you can run the wires to the wiring for the dome light. There is a red/white spotty one and a black/white spotted one on the passenger windshield post.. I tapped into those. . There is enough give in the headliner at the front that you can see where a solid point is to drill into for the visor mounting clips. . Mount the visor first. Then put the clip on the visor support. The clips have a nice long tab that will make a definite depression in the headliner so you have a guide to drill the hole for it. That tabs keeps it from shifting. Use an ice pick to make a starter hole for the drill bit. If you don't the material is flexible enough that it wraps around the bit as it spins. Then you start over!!!The placement of the hole for the screw is easy after you get that set. I'll probably redo my daughters headliner since she's on a break from college and take pics during that project for a writeup if there's enough interest.
