sup dude! been doing good, busy as hell at work...fell off these boards for a few months and pretty pissed about it as a couple sets of rims have came and gone for good deals :(
Needed new brakes and rotors so just ordered the ebay deal today.

I am considering doing a decent upgrade soon, just cannot decide between exhaust + revtune or rims / tires + springs.
not in a mad rush though, as winter is just around the corner! PM me back and let me know whats up with you

These are a very good option to replace the stock setup with. The entire kit, installed by yourself in less than 2 hours, will cost you 1/4 the cost of getting the stuff replaced with OEM at a dealership.

The Hawk HPS pads are the best pads I have ever used. They are quiet, have great stopping power, and very little dust. I would leave the ceramic pads it comes with at first and just move to Hawk pads once you need to replace the pads next time on. If you plan to do some hard driving though you may want to just stick the Hawk pads on right away and not use the ceramic pads it comes with.

I might just have to pull the trigger on these and have them installed. Don't have the tools or time to do it myself. Hopefully I can get more than 18 months and 24k miles out of this set. For the every day driving I do I'll try the pads that come with the set before spending more $ on pads. My commute to/from work really doesn't get too exciting.

I have no idea how to install them myself. How much would I expect to pay a shop to install?

You can expect to pay around $150-200 for the install of rotors and pads. or double that at the stealership. Try to find a friend or a friend of a friend that will "help" you and you can save some bucks. Should only take a few hours

After seeing this post last weekend I decided to pick up a set for my FX35. Dealer wanted $1200 for new pads and rotors due to warping. Picked up a set for $200 and installed them last night along with some wheel spacers. I have to say this is the best deal out there on pads and rotors, and the quality, fit and finish is great. The stop like a champ and are nice and quiet but still give you that sloted rotor hum that I like under heavy breaking.

I will diffinetly be picking up a set for the wifes m45 when the time comes. anyone thinking about getting these, dont hesitate.

So let me get this straight - 4 slotted, drilled, coated rotors AND all 4 pads for $190?? Really? And they are ok??? I find that hard to believe but you guys are pretty good out here so I'm gonna have to try them before the winter. I have 20k on my brakes - OEM rotors and pads from Advanced auto parts. Rotors are all rusted and look like crap. Front brakes squeel just a little but they aren't warped or anything... they perform ok...

$190 for everything is really hard to beleive but I'm gonna have to give it a try!!!

There's like a gazillion ppl saying they're good brakes, so what's so hard to believe? lol...

I was the 2nd one on here (afaik) that put these on our M, Craig was the first & though I dont put that many miles on my car these brakes still have a great feel after 6-7 months of usage. Craig was the 1st one to put them on nd he has a lot of miles on his set nd he says they're still great as well.

BTW when I bought them they were $160 shipped, guess they realized they were too cheap... They still havent contacted Craig or me to say thnks though... and they definitely should, lol...

Let me add my thumbs up also. I have had mine for 6+ months, 10k miles and they are performing well. No dust, no rust.

Also, I had them installed for $79/axle at a small auto repair shop.

Ive now put 17000 miles on these and they perform well. Best deal you can get for the money. Not for track use or street racing or any of that, but average stuff they are great.

I've tracked them... like I said before, our cars dont push crazy horsepower to justify a BBK unless it's for looks.

you haven't gotten your royalty check yet, Blanco?--LMAO

I am willing to pay for quality parts, but considering what it would cost at the stealership to do all four corners. I wasn't planning on doing it myself, but a friend told me it is a supereasy job. Soooo, after doing my research on this kit:

*they've got over 50,000 positive reviews on fleabay, plus i looked up a few individuals just to make sure that they weren't a fake account
* on several vehicle specific enthusiast forums the vast majority had lauded the quality especially considering the price: Mustang, Corvette, Acura/Honda, Dodge, etc.

I took the plunge and got 'em and figured other M folks ought to know!! I'll be getting another set when it comes time to replace them.

***UPDATE****
well, we had some good rain yesterday and today (in Southern Cali, i know, i know, it's not like rain on the East Coast or in TX, but hey... :) )

I decided to push my car a little and test the braking....in a cleared parking lot....I must say, the brakes still grabbed and did not have brake fade!!! I know I upgraded to the Akebono pads, but the rotors are the same (ebay deal that I purchased)....after playing in the rain, I parked the car in the garage and went back into the garage -- an hour later -- no rust!!! the rotor hat is still clean and no rust...whereas with the stock rotors, the rotor hat AND surface would look like S*@! after a car wash and even rain.... I'm still a satisfied customer!!!!

i'm mad at myself for somehow lost the email with the guy from brakemotive. But this is what you do, you call up the number and talk to the rep. I believe he's the only one that man the phone and do the invoice. Said you heard this on a forum and he'll give you a discount. I doubt he remembers me but tell him Jake recommended the package to you.

The installation is about 3-4 hours if you do it by yourself without any help. the hardest part is taking the old seized to hell rotors off the axel and of course the nuts that hold the caliper to the disc. However if you have air tool, it'll be a breeze. I didn't have air tool so the process took longer. You will need a big C clamp to push back the pot. other than that, this brake job is no different than any other brake job you've done to your previous car.

i will post a how two with pics as i have time.

This is my first attempt at replacing pads and rotors by myself. I bought the full set from brakemotive and they arrived quickly and in great shape. I finally had time to get started today. The front brakes took me about 3 hours, as I took it slowly and was very careful to try and do things right. Everything worked just as expected and I went and did the burnishing process. I then started to tackle the rear ones and ended up giving up for the evening. There is a part called the "radius rod" from the rear suspension that blocks access to the lower caliper bolt and the lower caliper frame bolt. I ended up reassembling it and called it a night.

Can anyone tell me how to the rear brakes on a 2007 M35x. Is it ok to remove one of the bolts on the radius rod and get it out of the way, or will that mess up my alignment? Any hints would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

in the rear, you can't get your socket in due to clearance issue however you can use a wrench. i think it's 19mm or somewhere along that size. you can also go to sears and get their ratchet wrench which is friking awesome in this situation. you might need two wrench for the extra leverage.

for breaking in the new pads and rotors, follow this instruction from the link below

Got mine right before Thanksgiving. Paid $120 to install all 4 rotors and pads. We've had some rough weather - so I drove in snow, rain, sunshine already. Took it to the mountains a couple of times. Great brakes so far - still under 2000 miles though.

So I did front and rear rotors and pads back in October. Within 6 weeks & 1500-2000 miles I'm getting a bad vibration when I brake. Took it to the dealer a few weeks ago and they told me warped front & rear and wanted $300 to resurface. I don't doubt that they are warped with the way they feel but why/how would this happen again so quickly? Its bad enough that I my factory brakes needed work at 25k miles but now I need to do it again?

Is there a problem with 2010 M35S going through brakes quickly? I drive mostly highway and am not hard on the brakes at all.

Very frustrating and I'm getting sick of dealing with the problem...

Any advice out there?

Could be a stuck/sticking caliper?

Mine vibrate a LITTLE during HARD braking or if I had just hard braked and need to stop again but I've beat my brakes and they are still going strong. I got mine at 58k and I'm now at 78k.

by chance, who did the install?? I know your issue is with the vibration when you're braking, but how often do you check the torque on your lugnuts?? possibly your wheels aren't tightened enough... I tend to torque my wheels at least once a week...

the Ebay rotors and pads that I purchased are still strong...although I swapped out the pads and put in Akebono pads about a week or so after installing the pads that came with the set -- nothing wrong with the pads, but knew the Akebonos grabbed a lot better....good luck with it....

Any weight difference between these and stock? For all the positive reviews and the price I have to try them out.

The one thing I hate about my M is the rotors that warp on a yearly basis. Less than a year at that actually.

I snatched up a set from ebay for $180 and had my boy install them. Great buy and they are so much better than the stock ones. They warp so quick!

I'm at 13,000 miles and the rotors are warped, according to my mechanic. They had been doing good until recently. As they are drilled and slotted, he says that they cannot be brought back into spec. They still look pretty good and have not rusted, but they are not a long lasting solution.
