ive got issues that are causing me to worry, first off, i got a ca motorset from Nagasaki in BC, the engine is clean, skary clean for a 20 is year old motor, turbo had normal wiggle, spun beautifull, pulled the valve cover and everything is clean, used but clean, oil was nice and brown, anywho.... wired up the harness according to the guide on heavythrottle, everything went good, changed my heater core, ran the harness through the firewall, twas a bi@#$ cuz of the ABS vac block, installed the FPR, and the Walbro, took care of all vaccum lines, pluged everything in and cranked it..... nothing, has fuel , didnt have spark, double checked everything retightened all grounds, pulled a spark plug out, still no spark, cheked the ecu for codes, in self diagnose got, code 12, 21, 43, cheked TPS, it had no ground wire runnig to it, fixed that, MAF checked out, decided to try it again, spark!!! put everything together, no run, just cranks, sounds good timed, friend jay says "it means well, she just cant do it" checked ignitor, all good, injectors, all good, she cranks, sometimes even spits flames out the turbo elbow, just doesent catch, ive been told to drop some ATF in each cylinder to help it out a bit, i dunno if thats gunna help, someone please point me in the right direction, please everythime i work on this car it feels like i dropped the soap in the shower at a federal prison by the way, float do you still need a non hicas PS pump?

I know that a CA18det ECU will only barely run a CA18de. You need to keep on the throttle and it really wants to not idle.

So I wonder if the reverse is true...

Have you re-checked the codes again and made sure you've gotten rid of all of them?

yah i did, it gave me 55 which says all good averywhere, i checked twice after each attempt at cranking, ive been told by some people that its just not building compression cause it has sat for so long, and the rings might not be ready for it, so i should drp a little ATF in each cylinder and that might help, im lost, and frustrated, the car tells me it has a TPS problem, and doesent read at full open but reads right at closed and partial,oh float, were you still looking for a non hicas PS Pump, ive got the pump and braket, i need a Hicas setup for mine, im not sure which you were looking for though,

if you're spitting flames out the turbo, I would guess either you're fuel pressure is up to much and you're getting way to much fuel to run. OR, the timing of either the cams, or Ign. is off and it's sparking while the exhaust cam is opening.

Did you do the basic maintenance on the motor, like plugs, timing belt, vacuum hoses, etc.?

Whoa I didn't realised there were any other CA owners in Michigan. You said you installed a fuel pressure regulator? (I'm assuming it's aftermarket) Did you adjust it properly? Did you check your timing? Trying checking your TPS with a DVOM. Also if you haven't downloaded the factory service manuel from the stickies, do that, it helps a lot with diag. and testing circuits/components.

No, I don't need a pump anymore.

Have you tested the compression? Do you have fuel and spark? Are the injectors firing?

Do a compression check. Check your fuel pressure and verify that the injectors are firing. If that all checks out good then it's a timing issue.

Good luck!

dont know why that post is up again ^

i checked the TPS it reads proper at closed according to the FSM from the Stickies, and at partial, but then it dies at full open,

yes ive got spark, cheked that the old skool way( pull the plugs and fire to see lightning ) all injectors are reading, and have good resistance, and the spak plugs smell like fuel, so i get that,

havent run a comp test yet.... finals will be over in a few,

she backfires a bit too, all belts are good, ran all vaccums as close to the factory set up as possible, big one to IC piping, Smaller to Wastgate, Tiniest capped off, rear of Mani to Butterfly valve, will the fact that the valve that sits on top of the AIC valve is disconnected throw it?, cus it adjusts for AC Compressor, and i ripped that off as soon as i could,

shes stopped Backfiring for now though, immona run a comp test to see if im fubared on this project,

i readjusted the fuel pressure which prob fixed it,

yah im in Michigan, Detroit, and this thing needs to run there needs to be more Nissan Representation out here, all i see is Hyphied Monte Carlos out here that are taller that offroading rigs, its slow ugly and loud,

float, do you have a Hicas Pump, and Braket you could ship my way?thanx for the responces all.....

I'm going to give you one idea "ECU". Change it and see what happens. Just because it gives you a code 55, doesn't always mean everything is kosher. AS for a Hicas pump and bracket, I got one and if you can't source one elsewhere.

First of all you got mail! Next you're going to need to find someone around here to help you out. Another thing I can tell you to do is remove the fuel pump fuse and use starter fluid to try and see if the car's ignition can get the engine to chug a little on the starter fluid. If it can, definitely start looking at your precious ecu.

if you flooded the motor it might be a good idea to either replace or clean the spark plugs, and check the gap while ur at it

update: sparckplugs replaced, grounded the everloving crap out of it, compression checked; 170 across the board, +/- 2 psi dee mailed you back, thanxnow, still getting a knock sensor code, checked the sensor according to the FSM and everything is good, yet it still crops up, and while compression checking the car would pop, and almost backfire? i guess? could my timing be off that bad that she wouldent start at all?

loosen the cas and try starting it while slowly moving it cw and ccw...maybe your ignition timing is off..

i was gona say ouled plugs from trying to start with no spark... but u got new plugs.

170psi seems about right if ur cams were off ur comp would be weird.

but its still a possibility. set the motor to tdc by the timing points on the crank pulley then pull each cam cover off and check via fsm (unfimiliar with cam placement on ca).
