I think the problem is our demographic mix. I see four groups..

1) younger owners just discovering the G50 and having a little swagger with thier new found passion.2) older owners who have longer term passion and understanding of the G50 and the amount of $$$ its takes to get them right.3) Y33 owners into VIP or just feeling fine about the Y334) everybody else.

I think Q45Tech has a good suggestion...split off the G50 guys. Also, If its possible with the forum app...give thread starters post deletion controls.

Good observation.

Seeing as the FY33 and G50 are two completely different cars with only the Q45 badge in common, they should be split. Same goes for IOM too.

It'll make searching for relevant information easier.

What's up Phi. I figured once I changed my avatar pic, I would eventually run across someone in my fraternity. I took my rims off of my car because of bad weather we have had lately in Oklahoma. Once the weather gets better, I'll put them back on and post some pics Nupe!

I'm new to this forum and do a lot more reading than posting pretty much because I'm usually not logged in long enough to reply to any replies, but I have really enjoyed the information. I also find the squabbling to be fairly amusing most of the time, but always wonder where it's coming from. It seems weird to me to fight with someone I've never personally met. (It's way easier to ignore someone that's not standing in front of me.)

All in all I've found a lot of interesting information, which has prompted me to start looking around for some kind of auto shop training. I'd like to be able to work on my own car since my husband can't do a whole lot since he wrecked his arm and hand in a motorcycle accident a couple of years ago.

I do really like the idea of separating the G50s from the Y33s.

Scott hit it on the head-they're just cars. In our REAL lives, our passion for our vehicles occupies a relatively smaller percentage of our lives/time. Families, work, finances, friends.... Once we log in here, we unleash all of our undivided energy and focus on the forum. This has the same "dramatic" effect on posting and reading. Thus intensity heightens.Everybody takes thing so personally, and spoken nuances are lost in translation.

Take a chill pill, man! That should be the one guideline, end of story.

Oh, and picked this up last week...what do you guys think?

Maybe you need to segregate the forums by maturity level? Take all knuckleheads and lump them together in their own forum;)

Realistically, maybe a split between G50. Y33 and F50 could be a good thing.

I don't post as often as I'd like but this forum is invaluable and I've had the pleasure to meet several members in my neck of the woods who've really helped me out and hooked me up.

Don't split it unless we get a written promise from Dennis that he is going to actively participate in Y33 forum :-)

I think things are better already. Maybe it was the alignment of the moon or something.

I would be cool with splitting the G50, Y33, and F50. It isn't cool when I see a good sounding thread title and it turns out it doesn't even apply to me.

I can assure you as long as I am a mod of this forum, there will be no segregation of models... We already are somewhat "cliquey" with our model series as is, I dont want things to be seperated, because then we wont have the big community feel, which is what Ive been striving for all along...

Some of you may want it, but you'll have to kick me out first.

I agree with jack as well... Dont take things so seriously, if someone lays an attack down and im not sure I assume theyre kidding... Its pretty obvious when they arent....

Also, im not going to say "oh its just the internet" when it comes to this community... I take this stuff VERY seriously as you can tell!

What I want to start doing now is try and cater to the Y33 guys more. G50 stuff is set in stone, everything is out there.. What I'd like is maybe some suggetions of things that the board could do for the Y33 guys that would make them happier... Anything, if you have an idea throw it out...

I, too, am more a reader than a poster. My '94 Q is the best car I have ever owned (always had Nissans before) and I dare say I will never drive another -- unless gas prices go over $5 a gallon... Have had to replace the transmission and am having valve cover gaskets replaced as I write... Maybe I have that high-priced hooker, but it is true love.... Otherwise, everything is pristine, inside and out... (although if I catch another "disease" I may be looking for another one next year! - any sellers out there w/ 94-99?)

My only feelings on this topic: I don't post because I'm not a mechanic and don't like the bashing when I ask what some think are stupid questions... But like others have said it is the Internet and you get all kinds on here... Will keep reading and thanks to you guys who keep this site going...

Hey I figure the devil you know is better than the devil you don't. I just tell myself that I can put $1000 into this Q and then I'll know what's wrong with it. If it lasts me another year that's less than $100 a month. Alot cheaper than a new one. (My wife thinks I'm crazy but my Granddaddy agrees with me.) Eventually it will be all new!

Have you read some of my posts? I'm learning to be a mechanic on my Q and ask lots of dumb questions. I think alot of the Q45 community used to be that way. You should read some of Wes' early posts. (JK Wes!) Seriously, ask your questions, ignore any wisecracks and you'll get some good advice. You'll grow into a mechanic. If you love your Q now, just wait until you work on it and appreciate the engineering of it. Besides, you can't afford to carry your Q in for everything it needs.

Like your Q and glad to have you around.

ITA. It seems tempting, but it would reduce traffic in each category. One of the great things about the NICO Forums is you get an answer relatively quickly. Quite a few members have both a G50 and a Y33, and many others have owned more than one version of the Q45. The combined expertise is invaluable.

No, it's just time to start focusing more on the Y33, and the F50 as it begins to exhibit problems, and as mods become available.

It would be nice if people would put the year of their Q in the subject line when initiating a post. Then when you see an interesting post you can tell if it applies to your car or not.
