well, after days of trying to get down there [i couldnt get there by 5 pm anyday this week, and they lock it up when the shop closes] they wouldnt wait for me.

the mechanic who put it together said all stock parts were used except the bov's and intercoolers [upgraded]

what i suspect is that the JDM downpipes without the precats will fit, but not the larger USDM counterparts.

the car will be there untill wednesday, so hopefully i can get there with a camera and verify.

heavyduty- i would take you up on that offer, but i need a complete clip because i want alternative parts if somethings dont work, and i also need the clutch and brake pedals, and various little things. when i do the conversion, im gonna be on a limited timeframe and having extra parts available is mandatory.

Understood, I have eveything but the pedal set, clutch master & slave, unfotunately my 97 240 SE met an untimely complete demise two weeks ago on the FLA turnpike. Soooo, I have everything but a carcass to put it all in.

Pretty sure this is a new seller - that doesn't relly inspire confidence. Neither do mismatched tires.

Same sill trim, so likely same car. Maybe Altiman94 will buy it since it is such a steal?

i was wondering, has anybody ran a vg30 naturaly asperated.i ask, cause im not a fan of injection for off the line fast.they seam to lag to me.is it this way for anyone else.increasing the stall may help launch.but screw up around town.best bang for the buck to me on a j30 is gear change.seems to do the job.i can get 22 mph with 436 gears.speedo ten mph off.my car has never been raced.i feel much to slow for that.4 bangers can kick are *** all day long, the ones i know.id race a j though just to see what happens.mostly other j's just galk.as heavy as my car is its still faster than a stock onethats for sure.

The J is really average off the line. Its strong point is when you tromp on the throttle at speed because the rpm are up already and it will kick down into the sweet spot with VVT doing its thing. At low rpm, four valves per cylinder does not provide much immediate torque. The Pathfinder VG30DE is configured for low end torque with only two valves per cylinder but, after driving one my brother owned, it sure didn't take off like the J does on the highway.

i hear ya vimmy..freeway lag is one of my complaints.these trannies take forever to shift.i like the way it kicks down in cruise with the gears i use.sharp shift.one thing is it can get alittle scary cruisin in cruise control thru wet steep mountan roads, speeding of coarse.you would thing its going to burn off at 65-70 mph.shifts much less, but factory is safer in that sense.in those conditions.kicking down in the apex is what im talking about.sometimes i push a little to hard to see whats up.how the car responds.my wifes always going, why do you speed up when it says slow down corner 45.-50.i just say, this is how its supposed to be drivin.i didnt do this crap for nothing.lol.

I think that even with the OEM gear configuration, you can make the J very aggressive my manually shifting on a twisty road so that you keep the rpms high so that torque and hp remain in the sweet spot. These engines very happily turn 6k rpm without any danger to the motor. I know from watching the tach that 7K rpm in second gear = 80 mph. Therefore you can really tear it up on a twisty mountain road using second gear alone. Manually shifting the J really brings out the motor's capabilities. Otherwise, it seems the factory shifts are meant to keep the surging power under control smoothing it out for the average punter and keeping engine noise level down.

I love gearing down manually while braking into a corner and feeling the rear wheels grab the car and bring it under total control. Using the grip of the rear wheels reduces the nose dive from just using brakes alone which sets the car up better for the corner exit. With the RPM higher from gearing down. the J is now set up in its sweet power range.

I want to go for a drive right now! :D

my car kicks *** in the mountains, its fun.i scare people.my cars always in the sweet spot.freeway 2850-3,000 rmp at 65.rarely downshifts on anyhill if going speed limmit.,has more power to get around.if the my car wheight is loaded to over 4500 pounds it will shift alittle more on hills.but they got to be steep.

@ 3K rpm on freeway I'm doing 80 mph with OEM set up. The J isn't into its power until after 3K rpm. It's almost like a 2 cycle motor cycle engine with the difference in power when the VVT kicks in.

i be quicker vimmy,lol...the closer to the band the better.i find doing 150 in a straight line kinda boring.but if you can do it in 8 seconds that would be the shiznat, lol.it seams just the q guys are reaping gear change rewards, why not the j30 people.you guys gotta get on board with the program.if it suits you i mean.everyone has something different planed.its a basic go fast upgrade.that you feel in the seat of your pants.

You maybe quicker but I'm faster. :D

My J is a "working" car. I put a lot of miles on her in the course of a year primarliy on the freeway doing 80ish so the lower gear set would make her work too hard. You've got her set up more as a sports car whereas mine is the OEM designed freeway tourer.

I agree with you that there should be more J pilots looking into the differential. The engine is very willing and if it's run more in its peak power band it can't help but become much more quick. I would also guess that the transmission would be less stressed as well.

Do you have an aftermarket ECU? That would free up some more rpm and advance the timing. Can you say quicker?

i got a jet but it doesnt mess with limiters----top speed 123 with gears.its kinda trippy i can get such mileage, the engine really doesnt have to work very hard.drove from seattle to vegas topping out at times 80 all day long,no problem.nice responsive area.for sure quickor with much heavier car.the whole point in changing the gears is to make it work less overall and quickor.i can do 23-25 in cruise control,lol....it really cuts down the amount of shifts on the road and freeway cause its got more power to get thru ups and downs without all the downshifting.and it makes the cruise control stabler as far as variing from the intended speed.ive drove it over 5000 rpm for 30 miles before i even noticed one time, lol.no problem.seattle is really hill and stuff, makes these cars shift right and left, gets anoying.ive heard others say this too.to be honest it makes you want to grab the shifter and play.every rides a fun ride.hard to play in this weird conjested area.kinda sucks.

I thought the JWT ECU removed the top end limiter and extended other rev limits 200 rpm into the red zone. My J is limited OEM @ 5K rpm @ 130 mph indicated.

One thing I have noticed with the VG30DE is that you can drive it really hard and not affect the mileage much at all. It's like the motor is working more efficiently above 3000k rpm than below it.

Best mileage I ever got was 24.5 mpg in GA where they use straight gasoline not like the up to 10% ethanol used in these parts. I average around 22.

21.5 regularly here, only down to 19 with lots of WOT running. Its the damn corn juice we're stuck with here in illinois. Eats up injectors and hoses too.
