IIRC, Autopia is marketing this as their "house" brand & dropping Meguiars, Stoners & other vendors. I'm sure they can get a much better markup on these products since the retail won't be controlled by somebody else. I might look up on Autopia's forums to see if anyone has used it yet.shift_mikey wrote:Has anybody tried the "Ultima Paint Guard Plus" products? $70 a bottle? I've seen that and contemplating on using it. Sure it removes swirls marks and gives a great shine, as they stated, but it also removes all wax and protectant already in the car and they don't recommend replacing polishing with these. That just doesn't seem worth the $70 price tag.shift_mikey wrote:Has anybody tried the "Ultima Paint Guard Plus" products? $70 a bottle? Where did you see that it removes wax? I saw where is says that other waxes "wash off" over a period of time. I do agree that $70 is pretty steep. I would need verification that this stuff really works before I bought it.rfx45 wrote:I've seen that and contemplating on using it. That brand is practically double the price from their competition and I'm just not sure how well it really works.
My fault, I was reading all the Ultima products last night and I must have gotten it all miexd up together. I got it confused with the Ultima Paint Prep Plus because in their FAQ for the Paint Guard Plus, they recommend using the Paint Prep Plus, which removes all waxes and paint sealant coatings.MisfitBrian wrote:Where did you see that it removes wax? The clay bar is used for taking grime and dirt and usually used before polishing as a prep.dynot wrote:Tonight I washed my car and then applied the Ice Polish. But I'm confused on all the ICE products.
What is the clay bar for and when do I use that? Does the polish replace the liquid wax and how often should I use the polish? If it doesn't replace the wax, when do I use the wax?
The Turtlewax website doesn't really give any advice on these products, only the benefits of using them.
I use a clar bar about 2 or 3 times a year to get all the grit that can get stuck in your paint. Use it after a thorough washing. Be sure to use the spray that comes with it to lubricate the surface or you will get clay streaks. The ICE polish is actually a polymer wax. True polish will smooth surface scratches & swirls. After using the ICE wax, I like the smooth application, but do not let it set for more than 5 minutes. I got a phone call after I had finished applying it. I had to get out my Porter Cable DA to get the wax off. It looks really nice, but I'm still not 100% sold on it yet. I might try an additional coat this weekend to see how it improves.dynot wrote:Tonight I washed my car and then applied the Ice Polish. But I'm confused on all the ICE products.
