Well, what do you have? Full 3" exhaust and intake would help, maybe a boost controller.

Lag is lag. Without increasing exhaust pulses per cycle (IE adding cylinders) or increasing the strength of the exhaust pulse (Increasing displacement or focusing each pulse so that it hits the turbo at the best velocity with a twin scroll setup or equal length runners). Lag is pretty much at a minimum if you car is functioning properly. If not, check for boost or vacuum leaks.

if you are feeling laggy and you just did your swap, check your timing. You might be too advanced.

Sounds like you are having issues with your knock sensor, check your ECU codes.

A full exhaust and intake manifold will help out a lot... Probably the best way to explain this theory is "full ins and outs". A better flowing intake manifold and better flowing exhaust will improve your spool x2.

The Faster air gets into your motor through your intake manifold and out through the exhaust manifold and turbo and through the exhaust pipe provides for a better spool which equals more power...

When I first did the swap the car was so sluggish I didn't even think the turbo was making boost'

So ya what your going through is natural unless you really do have something wrong. I hope this helps and good luck.
