I think they are using it to help keep temp down since they have warranties on these cars and they have to last more then a year.
not sure about the evo but the wrx has a top mounted intercooler, that hood scoop is for air flow to the intercooler

The heatshield that ATP put together for Ryan will not fit the BoostDesigns turbine. Ryan's turbine housing is for a Ford 5 bolt...the BD turbine is a Dodge 5 bolt I believe.

I have sent my BD turbine housing to ATP to get them to construct a heatshield for me. It's going to cost $275 because they do not already have a die made for this turbo and will have to construct one from scratch. However, now that ATP will have a die for the BD turbo housing, those of you who have BD turbos and would like to get the ATP inconel heatshield, you should not have to fork out $275 or even ship your turbo housing for that matter. ATP will be able to put one together and ship it out to you. I don't know how much cheaper, but Tim (the owner of ATP) said that if a die already existed that it would not cost me as much...plus, you don't have to pay for shipping to ATP and back like I'm having to do.

And to reply to chandler's earlier post, once you put on the inconel shield/wrap, the BoostDesign's shield would pretty much be pointless to put in place. I'm sure Ryan would agree, as he only uses the ATP inconel wrap and nothing else. I think that Tim said that he has teams from CART and NASCAR using his heatshields...that's a pretty impressive endorsement in my book.

I kinda figured it would be useless, I meant as far as a looks go it looks kinda cool, but that what I was shooting for, I should be ordering a bd kit in a month or so, I finnally got some money coming in, how can you tell its a dodge 5 bolt?
