i dont think there is anything wrong w/ cvt....its just when everyone hears CVT they automatically assume that its bad and powerless....i think the CVT will more than do the job....again in my research it says all CVT's made proir to 06 had problems becasue the way they are built....the new Xtronic CVT has enough power and durabillity, i just hop the pulleys can keep up
if i recall, the altima's cvt is not belt and pulley based.

it's a torroidal cvt.

go to wikipedia and learn. now.

Troidal > torroidal

We have Xtronic CVT's (Belt Type CVT), Trodials were used back when Nissan first started using CVT in motor vehicles back in 99.

Hey all,

Just spent some time reading through this thread. Just want to throw out a potential alternative thought.

In general, we've all ben talking about 450 HP this and 550hp that. Anybody here think that a low boost option might be enough?

I think that a 350HP (Even at the engine) would still be a kick in the pants and would still be effective if you really want to be on the street.

Now this might end up being a "Biggest bang for the buck" discussion, but I think it warrants thought. There are ways to get more HP without blowing the engine or CVT/transmission.

Thoughts?

Thats exactly what i would go for, i'd only go for a 50hp increase, between 330-350 hp at the crank

A smaller supercharger like an Eaton M62 would be a viable option when and if it's developed for the Altima's. A good 40-60 HP boost running around 6-9 psi. I believe Stillen uses Eaton's M62 and M92's in their vehicles by the looks of it. I think they just relabel the S/C's as their own.
