Thanks Ryan, just hope you are not from Alaska, ha-ha. I have a place in Florida too, that's why the AC is important. Still can't find a salesman up here that wants to sell me the Versa I want. Maybe it's me, any color but black and must be a 6 speed with no dealer add on's running up the list price.

I know the CVT is as good as any and better than most but with the flat torque on Nissan engines the end result just isn't worth the chance of something going wrong and having something that can't be fixed (must be replaced). Now just maybe the 2nd gen CVT will be indeed bullet proof. A lot less pull on the chain for sure but then I understand they intend to use a lot lighter parts. I'd sure like to see a torque converter on the 6 speed. If Chrysler could do it back in the 40's Nissan ought to be able to do it today. That system lasted forever and longer with no problems. (the fluid coupling did anyhow) Yep, a few of them are still around.

Hey I heard the AC's are a little weak in the Versas. Any truth to that??[/quote]I've had the CVT for over 2.5 year and it runs great. I'm sure any of the transmission choices will be fine, good luck.

It has been at least a hundred degrees for about 60 days in a row now. Wait, I think it was 99 one day. The A/C works fine and around here, you'll find out if the A/C is a good one or not very quickly.

The Versa is a great all around car. Let us know what you get.

Wasn't on the schedule for my Villager/Quest, but the service manual said to change the timing belt at 160km . . . and the deadlership [seconded by a mechanic friend] said "may as well change the water pump at the same time: a bit more labour, and if it needs to be changed later it's the same work to get to it".

Guess I've got another 5-6 months until the inspection

Yeah, drove one yesterday and the AC worked great, 40 degrees in the parking lot. Clutch was no problem either but the sales man never called me back. I told him he just had to match the internet price ($400 over dealer's cost) He said no problem but I have to run it by the boss. Again, never called back.I'm a cash customer so I know it wasn't my credit. Never thought it would take so much work to buy a Nissan. Guess that's why they lag so far behind Honda and Toyota.

Just got the wrong dealer.... I had this SAME response from Toyota and Hyundai. My local Nissan dealer here was on point. Hense the Versa... had the others came through, who knows.

I changed my boy's Altima 3.5SE fluid @40K. The CVT fluid is not cheap. Got it at the dealer here. We are doing his every 40K miles

I've given up trying to buy a Versa. Wrote to 3 local dealers on the internet & stated I'd take any color but black so long as it was a 6 speed. All 3 had the 6 speed listed in their inventory. You guessed it, not one got back to me.

My buddy wanted a Sentra and he went to 2 dealers. Said they just didn't have the time to let him drive one. He was told to schedule an appointment.

The Toyota dealer was real nice about telling us he was sold out, but then he had time with only Avalons on the lot and few lookers at those.

Yeah, the Cash for Clunkers kept dealers busy around here, too. I was looking for a CVT two weeks ago and in the course of three days it went from finding several online in the area to them all disappearing and almost not being able to get one at all. But it was worth the trouble!
