Hey everyone. Long time since ive posted; but anyway.

I got a ride hoemf rom this girl at school and her friend steve was in the car. We were talking about cars the entire 25min home. He realyl got to me when he started bashing on 240's. The kid doesnt have a license yet and this is what he said: "Colleen(the girl driving) when i get my license ill show you what real power is. My car will be the fastest car around." Now at this point i can think of 5 cars off the top of my head that would be fast. One of them is cyberkreig from this board. And Steve and I are friends with cyberkreigs little brother. So we start talking about that. THen i ask what Steve is getting that will be so fast. He says he is getting a "Turbo Coupe with 32psi" and "it will blow any 240 off the road"

Is this possible? oh and its a 1986 Turbo Coupe. Anyone have any knowledge fo what the he is talking about?

so wtf is a turbo coupe? and if he thinks he's hot ****, tell him to race cyberkreig when he gets the car...just make sure they stay at least 1 carlength (width wise) away form eachother so when this kid crashes and burns, kreig will be out of the way

oh yeah, assist him in this 32 psi when he gets the car too...i'll even mail you a manual boost controller lol

awesome man jus awesome! i dotn know what a turbo coupe is either. and good god, cyberkreig had better put a divided highway between himself and this kid.

Oh and the 32psi thing, i wonder if a motor that old could run that high stock?

Note: He claims it is stock.

well, u have to realize, u know about SR20DET's and therefore u know all about their stock turbo...what you fail to realize (and trust me i did too for a long time) is that some factory turbo cars run much higher boost then the SR20, and the turbos equipped on them run at different efficency levels...the T25/T28 are TINY and of poor bearing design to some other cars...like the new EVO (STI as well) runs a ludicrous amount of boost compared to the SR20, as does the SRT4 if 'im not mistaken...i'm hesitant to say the same about the 1.8T from VW/AUDI but i wouldnt be surprised

true, but still...... i mean also the technology available in 86 was it that great that they would be able to run that much boost, stock?

The old Thunderbirdbird TurboCoupes ran T3 comparable to the T3's found on Z31 300ZX's of the same era. Nothing impressive--and definitely nothing of pushing over 2 bar.

Woo hoo! More battles being setup for me. I totaly understand what you are saying blaze and i appreciate the admiration of my car. But the last thing i need is MORE pissed of 16 year old kids that know where I live.

Anyway, Let him grow up. Buy whatever, and learn how much time, effort and money it takes to make horsepower.

wen you mention the different cars the sti runs 14lbs, the srt4 i believe runs 14 or 15, and the evo runs 19, and the most anyone has gotten out of that is the vishnu evo which runs like 21 or 22 on the stock turbo. dont know about the vw/audi 1.8t i know stock depending on the car they run ~12psi, which is wut my friends gti shows. so no way...get this kid sumthin between the ears

eh Turbocoupes run maybe 14 pounds, maybe...

There are a lot of them running 9's in the quarter however....

I want one, but maybe later...almost got a nice one for 800 when I was 16, but I didn't...

eh, it'll be a little faster the a stock 240, maybe a second or so...assuming it's stock too anyway...

tell him the SC 'Birds are better and I said so. Because we've got IRS and a cheaper motor to fix.

OK fellas, 32psi is what his tire's air pressure will be at. Obviously he read a magazine, but he just remembered the wrong part of the punchline, and now is acting his age.

He wont be able to run 32 psi on a stock motor. Let him do it, and then watch it blow up. You just stand aside and laugh.

The '86 Turbo Coupes werent intercooled either, only the '88 was. I had a friend that had several of those cars, he got his '88 to run mid 8 second passes in the 1/8, and that was just with a few bolt ons...stock turbo too. I doubt that this kid knows what he is doing, so, yeah, it will be slow. He will probably go through a few headgaskets too. That T3 gets real inefficient over about 19psi. It may spool quick, but, the car will have no top end power at that boost level. Hell, you can run 27psi with proper tuning on a stock Buick GN ....but that Thunderchicken is no GN.

only thing i can think that can run 30lbs is the fc, but turbos were not released in '86, and it's sure as hell not gonna be w/the stock turbo.

now that I think about it, I think i'm full of ****...

At least heavy porting would be required...and I guess the stock apex seals could take it, but not for too long...

you guys would be amazed at what the little SOHC 2.3l turbo engines could do...they may not be high tech engines, but they can put down some impressive power for being pinto motors on 'roids..also, they came with either t3s(pre86 cars) or smaller IHI turbos for the 87-88s.

the VW's run relatively low boost. I know the Turbo S beetle is at like 5 or 6 PSI, it may even be 8 but i know its low.

this whole boost thing really has me chuckling...people fail to realize that 10PSI on a T25 is NOT gonna be the same as running 10 PSI on a T-88

think volume of air moving...just because 2 turbos push 10 psi dosent mean it's gonna be the same effect...
