i run redline lightweight shockproof, you might want to consider MT90 or superlight shockproof.

It is in the neighborhood of 4 qts. Just keep filling til it comes out of the top fill hole. Make sure the car is level when you do it.

why not? Modified mag did it on their s-14 build up, and it was a shop that was doing it. I did it all last year, yeah felt great?

says it right there, I don't think they would tell the customer a story about doing it and post it on Redlines site.

edit: Ok I actually just read the article I mention above. Its actually about a Page long on Redline Gear oils.

Cameron Evans at Redline Oil actually suggested the mixing of his Redline Shockproofs and MT transmission fluids to find a happy medium. page 110 Feb 2006 Modifed Mag article.

They ended up mixing 3 different setups, and found in the SR transmission the lightweight shockproof and the mt-90 felt the best. It cleaned up the notchy ness and made the gear box feel extremely smooth.

Hmmm I've been thinking of swapping from Shockproof heavy which is what me and alot of RB guys are running...Think there is a big difference?

there was a thread awhile back on how 1st and 2nd want to grind until we've gone about 2 miles then it shifts smooth. I wonder if the "light" would solve this ?

grinding only happens to me in the winter, i run redline mt-90...thicker oil causes slower moving syncros.

glad to see I am not the only one that had that occasional grinding problem. I switched to Mobil 1 and it pretty much eliminated any grinding. I have heard mixed things about the M1, but it has been working well for me so far.

anybody use penzoil synchromesh? I put it in as a quick fix (only non gl-5 fluid available at autozone at the time). It seems to be much less viscous than "traditional" gear oil.

I used to live in NY.With my S13 KA-E I never had any grinding because of the cold.I know it was a bit harder/slower to shift but never saw anything unsual.I HATE grinding gears. It kinda hurts me, like when someone scratches a chaulk board with their nails.

Drain it drain it drain it, if pennzoil snychromesh is anything like thier other oils that turn into the consistancy of mud, i wouldnt even put pennzoil in my door hinges.

Im going to be tracking my RB alot this year, i was thinking Redline Shockproof light, or should i go with heavy? Its an RB20DET transmission on an RB25DET. 2 Quarts should do the trick?

I know this is an old thread but I figured this is the best place to ask a question. What do you guys think about doing 50% lucus oil.....?? The super thick stuff??

I ran Redline for a while then switched to Royal Purple Syncro Max and what a world of difference. My preference goes to RP.

I use to run pennzoil 50% and 50% lucus in my integra........I would think that both trannies are made of the same material.

GM/ Pennzoil syncromesh. Honestly that stuff has been a god send to all of my manuals.

Also heard good things about the Royal Purple stuff.

what do the rb25 transmission take??? is it 75w-90??

I went to the royal purple web site and if your manual transmission takes 75w-90 then they suggest the max-gear stuff

I have heard good things about the pennzoil synchromesh like 2 years ago and if thats good then that calls for the synchromax....

Which is better??? its so much to choose from.

oh yeah whats thicker between the Redline MT-90 and the lighweight shook proof??
