WTF are you guys doing? If you look at the FSM/owner's manual/every nissan gearbox, you need a gl-4 oil (75-90w).

RP syncromax is NOT a gl-4 oil. It is only recommended for use in gearboxes that use MOTOR oil, not GEAR oil.

lightweight shockproof is like a 30w motor oil, and superlight has the consistency of an ATF.

I can't believe you haven't destroyed your trannys yet....but if i were you I would change that oil out to something that the engineers at Nissan spent hundreds of hours designing the transmission around.

I use shockproof heavy (viscosity of a 75-90), and it seems to work pretty well once it's warm. but i get a good clunk shifting into 2nd and it doesn't like to go into 1st while cold

lmao!!!..... i wasnt gonna say it.. i mean if some people are dumb enough not to read up on a certain product then i guess they kinda deserve whatever happens....syncromax is merely a synthtic form of ATF....certainly NOT gear oil equivlant!!!

Its been stopping the occasional crunch in DSM transmission's for years.

Just a fyi... if the article i read was right (some fluid dynamics engineer wrote) 10w-40 and 75-90 have the same viscosity. Yea i know kind of hard to take in was for me too. Then i remembered a few hondatech guys running 75-90 gear oil in their transmission when it called for 30w motor oil. Just some odd info ive come across who knows right....

Also, "honda days.." syncromesh cured alot of grinding integra trannys they seem to swear by it but only the gm friction modifed. I went with factory honda mtf because availability was 2 days. Just passin on the info no recomendations from me.

Apparently everyone with a nissan has been running the gm synchomesh for years. The royal purple uses the synchromax to replace the synchromesh????
