Been there, done that! You know, I LOVE the car...but had I known it would be this much trouble to get something fixed, I wouldn't have bought a Nissan.

The Honda people treat my son like he is king of the world every time he has trouble. They drive the two hour round trip to PICK UP his car and take it back and fix it and deliver it to him, WHILE leaving him a loaner.

Sigh.

My Nissan dealership will pick up my V from my work and leave me a loaner for my oil changes, etc. as long as they have plenty of time to schedule a loaner. I'm not sure about going 2 hrs...

Okay.

I'm ready to eat crow.

After complaining about the stupid TPMS going out - again, I went out Sunday morning and discovered I had a flat. Hubby airs it up and it stays up but the light doesn't go out.

Monday, the tire is halfway down. Of course everything is closed to have it looked at.

Tuesday, we go to have the tired looked at and I'd run over a nail. It must have been Friday night, because that's when the light came on.

SOOOOOOI'm eating humble pie here, and saying the stupid TPMS system actually worked for me. Who would have thought????

Well, for me it will be the third visit to the dealership with the stupid TPMS light back on. This time I'll go with the Service Bulletin in hand. I'll also take the bulletin about the parking brake cover, because mine looks like the one with problems in their picture.I"ll ask them to throw something in like a free oil change or something, because I'm fed up with driving 1.5 hours each week to their dealership.

I'd also practice what you'd say to them when they tell you your car isn't covered by the bulletin.

My car wasn't (wrong BCM model code), but it still kept having the problem. You'll probably want to point out to them that this problem still occurs on a lot of cars not covered under the TSB, and not to take the vin# range as gospel... make sure they look at the BCM, not just reset the system. Make sure they either replace whichever sensor reads a fault, or replace the whole BCM. Let them know in no uncertain terms that if they don't, the error WILL occur again.

The dealership is big on the evaluation of service survey. If they don't change a sensor or BMC ask for the service writers name. the technicians name and the service managers name. When they ask why, tell them :

"These people will be listed in my report to Nissan."

I was at the dealership, and they ordered all the parts specified in the service bulletins. They did give me one free oil change. Now I'll have to wait until the parts are in and go back to have them replaced.I think skoobahead's idea is good, and I'll tell them that. Thanks.

My light came on during a trip out to Colorado. I had that sinking feeling, but it's wasn't flashing. I checked the manula again and saw that it can also come on if there is too great of a pressure differential between the front and rear. I was running 1.5-2psi higher in the rear tires while towing a trailer and loaded with luggage. I cheked the tires and I was 2.5 higher in hte rear after driving for several hours. I took out 1psi from the rear and the light stayed off.

I'm actually starting to like this system. Its' unfortunate that Nissan purchased some defective units in early production and worse that dealers are poorly trained on these new vehciles and Nissan is doing such a poor job and dealing wiht the problem.

Just a note here about the TPMS. If you light just comes on solid, the system is functioning and telling you a tire is low on air pressure. It's a picky system, it may not *look* like your tires are low, but if you read them with a gauge you'll see.

If the light flashes on and off for 60 sec. then comes on solid when you turn the car on, then the system is malfunctioning.

A lot of people here are saying, 'my system is broke' but there's a difference in bring on solid and flashing. If in doubt, check your manual.
