Everybody is fine.Daughter was driving back from a church function with my son in the back and her boyfriend in the front passenger when it started raining.Hasn't been raining here in a long time. So, you know how slick it gets when it hasn't rained and just starts.Anyway, she lost control in a curve and the rear end slid into the other lane hitting a mini-van (man driving solo).both front bags blew plus one side.

Check the pics. Let me know if you think it's totaled (99G20 with 68K miles)

SVTCOBRA,

I just saw the pics and thought that you clicked it as you were driving by. I realised it was one of your cars after reading the post. Sorry to hear abt the accident but glad that everyone is doing ok.

Do the g's skid a lot when it rains? I thought the VDC would take care of it.

Wishes -V

Thanks everybody!Kids checked out fine at the hospital. Daughter's neck x-rays were fine too.Son was sitting behind the driver where most of the impact was and he bumped his head on the side window, but he checked out OK.

The G20 didn't have VDC. And the reason it was so slick is because we haven't had any rain in a long time. This causes the oils to accumulate on the roads. The worst time to drive is when it first starts raining after a long dry spell. This loosens the oil up and makes the roads very slick. Of course, the more it rains, the problem is washed away, but initially the roads are very dangerous. In this case, it was a very light rain that occurred. The officer did not cite(sp?) her. He said that he blamed the road. So, today, the first day of school, she will drive my G and I'll work from home.

And now we have to start looking for a replacement car.

First let me say that I'm glad everyone is ok!!! Second, I agree with Whizzer...you should get a coupe and give one of your sedans to your daughter (it has VDC).

I agree with everyone that it's totaled.

...Glad you're handling this so calmly!

Whenever you do something to the axles, insurance companies more than not just want to total it.

Very totalled. Considering the value of the car, it would not be cost effective to repair. There is definitely a lot of frame time in the repair. Not to mention that quarter panel is probably toast. the labor to cut out and weld in a quarter panel is quite high, so that alone would likely total the car. Add in the doors, fender, and some heavy suspension damage and you're likely well over the value.

That said, I'm glad to hear everyone is okay. But take this opportunity to discuss the accident with your daughter. Go over why the accident happened. and while the officer may blame the road, the fact is, it still comes down to the driver. Make sure she understands that so she can learn from this mistake and make adjustments for the next time a similar situation comes up.

Thanks guys!!!Yes, I got the call and they totaled it.

Our G's are more than she can afford. Even the 03's.Remember she's making the payments on a part time job.

C-Kwik, I have been talking to her about the accident. I think she will learn from this experience. She loved her G. It was in excellent shape with only 68K miles.

I did check out an Loaded 00 Max SE with 63K miles in excellent condition. He is asking kbb full retail. If he were to come to private party, I might do it. We'll see....It's in great shape, just don't like paying full retail.

Update,Went by the towing company to get my plate and K&N.Also took the Infiniti emblem and G20 emblems off for my daughter to keep. The Infiniti emblem fell out of my pocket at a dealership and she saw it.She burst into tears. Was wanting to give it to her AFTER we found a replacement... So, we looked at a few possibilities, but ended up at a private owners house. The 2000 Grey Max SE with 63K miles....One owner, babied. Mint interior, Garaged, Bose, Leather, Woodtrim, Sunroof....$10,500.Gonna do the deal tomorrow AM.

Congrats on the new deal, God bless on the no injuries!

Everyone here with kids can relate to the stress and scare you must've received...I know what I have to look forward to in a few years with my kids! Accidents happen and they can happen to even the experienced drivers out there. Trials like this keep things in perspective and remind me that nothing should be taken for granted.

And good job keeping your kids in safe vehicles; looks like it paid off!

Thanks guys!!Done deal! Bought it, registered it, and had it inspected. Now, need to change oil over to Mobil 1 Syn, put several coats of Zaino on it, and change the drive belts (this weekend). Then, flush the transmission and coolant (Nissan dealer).

I hear ya.She makes her own car payments!

With her G20, she put up $1000 and we matched it and she made her payments.

This Max is in show room condition inside!!! The pictures do not do it justice! Those were the ones the seller posted on autotrader. (now, I need to get back on track looking for a previously loved G coupe....)
