The speed limit in on the road is 35.She slowed down before the curve (95 degree rt turn). The car was sliding straight, not turning. She applied more brake and the rear end came around.A mini-van hit her car on the rear driver's side door spinning her now counter-clock wise 180 degrees.
We had not had any rain in weeks. It had just started sprinkling. As you know, this is the worst time to be driving because it loosens all of the oil that has been deposited on the road and makes for very slick conditions.
We arrived on the scene prior to any emergency vehicles. You could see the oil everywhere on the wet pavement.
Had it been raining for a few more minutes, she probably wouldn't have had the accident. The police did not charge her due to the road conditions.
Actually, you can see part of my daughter in the last photo sitting on the wet ground crying.
To get a call about a wreck that your two children has been in is a parent's worst nightmare. I know, it could have been much worse. If she had been horsing around, they could have been seriously injured.
Had they been like so many other 'cool kids' that refuse to wear their seatbelts, it might have been much worse.
I won't even get on my soapbox about how not wearing your seatbelt endangers the lives of others.........but, anybody that has done any kind of racing knows why this is true.
Oh, and I'll email you a bar of soap...open wide and insert....
