Well, my S14 is gone Saturday night me and my friend were on this crazy fun road that runs through a park up in north jersey. Anyway, I let him drive my car home cus I'm tired from driving all night (this is at about 2am). On the way out of the woods, we come around a turn and just as we round the bend, there in front of us is a pack of deer, he swerves, slams on the brakes, the brakes lock and we slide on the wet pavement and leaves right into a tree. I'm unable to breath for a minute, he's bleeding everywhere (his head smashed into my nice NISMO steering wheel bending it way the **** back) plastic and glass is everywhere...and we're miles from civilization. After several failed calls to 911 on my cell phone, we decide to walk to where we can get better receoption or maybe find campers or something. We walk and walk and walk for 7 miles in the pitch black, with no light except the light from our cell phones, and it's POURING rain. We're bleeding, probably in shock, but we have to get out and get help. We get a hold of my friend's dad who drives up to get us. At 5:40 AM we're on our way to Morristown memorial hospital and we spend the next 6 hours in agony. After I'm released from the hospital, me and my family go to try and find my car which we had to leave in the woods. We get to the scene of the accident to find nothing but the tire marks in the mud and nissan plastic everywhere. So we find the park rangers, and they tell us to go to the impound lot where my car is. We get there and the sight of seeing my car the way it was damaged in day light scared me silly. By all accounts, we should have been dead..shot through the windshield and down the cliff. But luckily we both had our seat belts on which did indeed save our lives. I took some pics of it. The pictures are pretty graphic though.

Glad to hear you guys are alive and ok. As much as I hate to wear my seatbelt seeing this kind of carnage reminds me to use it. It does save lives.

Don't forget crumple zones. Thats why you didn't take the brunt of the impact, it was spread out around the passenger area. It was a damn hard hit to have buckled the roof though, maybe your friend will learn a lesson from all of this and you should too. Goofing off in the rain can lead to serious injury.

First off, I'm glad that you and your buddy are okay!

Second though, lets give some props to Nissan. The car took the hit beautifully. From what I can see, the driver's side windshield looks intact. The hood crumpled up perfectly, and it looks like the engine dropped. passenger compartment is jacked, but it looks like it only moved maybe a couple of inches back, based on the door jamb. All in all, not bad for hitting a tree!! I doubt my S13 would hold up so well though.

You should see a Q45 hit a tree, or rollover. Its a brick.

Wow, that car took an amazing hit. Good to hear that you guys are ok. I assume the deer made it out as well? How is this all going to play out with your insurance? Will he be covered or will it be covered under his insurance or what? Once again, good to see you guys made it out ok.

The insurance follows the car.

wow, that really sucks. I mean there's nothing anyone can really say about that. Glad you're both alive, and hopefully insurance will cover your losses. Kinda sucks to have your friend wreck your car, though at this point I'm sure that is merely an afterthought. Hope you both recover well.

This happend when we were just trying to get home..not screwing around. Ironic how the friend that was driving has a history of having the worst things happen when he's not driving dangerously. Maybe we would have gotten out without a scratch if he was going nuts...or...maybe not.

As far as insurance, it's up in the air right now. The car had just liability on it, no collision. But since my friend was driving, his insurance may or may not cover it, they requested some documents and they said that they might cover it. We just don't know yet. Plus, he's a good honest friend that I've known since grade school, I know he won't leave me hanging. He has offered to reimburse me out of pocket and he's kept his word everytime for the last 10 years I've known him, so I'm not too worried about the car. We're alive to drive another day, that's all that matters.

As far as injuries, I suffered only a sprained wrist and some bruising and severe soreness from the seatbelt. It could be ALOT worse, but I'm almost normal now. The soreness just feels like I spent a day at the gym, so it's not bad. My friend got the brunt of it. You can't really notice it in the pic, but hte NISMO wheel is bent about an inch forward from it's original shape. That was from my friend's head and chest hitting it. He suffered a broken wrist, minor forehead laceration and some bruising. But...if we can walk 7 miles in the rain, we couldn't have been injured that bad right? This is definately one for the books.

Actually if I still had the airbag in, my friend probably would have sustained more injuries to his face like a broken septum, etc. All things considered, the only broken bone, was his wrist and that was becuase his hand was on the steering wheel, nothing an airbag could do to prevent that. At least it's a minor injury.

As long as you're wearing your seatbelt, you stand a better chance of walking away from stuff like this.
