I am going to be buying an S14 sr20det and installing it in my S13. I am planning on keeping the mods to the engine small at first, but plan on swapping cams and turbo later. Since the engine is way easier to work on while its out of the car I plan on upgrading the clutch and switching to a topmount manifold setup. This way when I go to the bigger turbo all I have to do is unbolt it off the top of the manifold and bolt the new one on. The problem is that the T28 has an internal wastegate. Is there anyway of keeping the t28 wastegate closed short of welding it shut since I plan on using it at first? I have all the tools and skill necessary to fab anything that I might need. I just need some advice and dont want to mess up the T28 because I might want to use it on a redtop swap later. Thanks.

just weld the wastgate actuator arm on the turbo so the wastegate is in the closed position

Most if not all of the nice name brand manifolds are t3 flanged i believe. That is something to consider!

So you are saying that the t28 wont bolt up? I could just tig a different flange onto the manifold.

ya i was thinking of doing that before..buying a t3 manifold and cutting the flange off and cutting off the t2 flange from my aftermarket manifold and swapping them so i could top mount the t2 turbo
