Yeah, I used the top hat mounts too. I had to work with it a lot to get them to line up, and I actually just slotted the crossmember to work. It was a *****, but finally got it sitting straight. You'd think after a few people's swaps gone bad that they would check the mounts themselves, and see that they don't fit right, but oh well, what can you do besides going to a different mount kit?

I think I'm going Mckinney for the next swap I'm doing. Has anyone had fitment issues with Mckinney mounts?

I drilled out my top hat trans mount as well. There was no way it was going on otherwise. I see the stick rotate when I get on the gas. I'm blaming it on the stock rubber transmission mount. I'll probably get the spl polyurethane replacement.

Do Mckinney mounts really angle the motor? I mean even slightly...thats not right.

I tried that second cross member on a car here so Im not too sure what type of problem your having but its not with our mounts. For those of you who inquired we have done over 50 RB swaps and never broke a mount or isolator, so I'm pretty sure the mounts work. They get broke during installation because they are tight going in and I have never in 6 yrs had a customer tell me first hand they broke after installed in a running car. Not to say this has never happened but maybe not as much as some make it sound. No part is perfect so thats why we have a warranty.I have seen a problem on s14s with rb25s. The hole pattern front to back is out of alignment. We may be changing the trans mount but we do not see many s14s in here for rb25s so I need to see whats oging on there. Thanks for all your feedback even if some of it was not true. Anyone having trouble with our products should know our mounts have a LIFETIME gaurentee against failure(peroid). You bend it or break it and we will replace it. No question!!!!After reading this thread Im sure someone will have some bashing to do but if its legitt just give me a call and we can try and help you out.PS- Sorry about the down pipes but the guy above is right, they are 3" too short so I will offer a full refund to anyone who would like to return it.Thanks, Mike SimsOwner, Top Hat Performance

I think a lot of the play in the shifter is due to the stock rubber isolator mount being so flimsy. So what I did to correct it was buy some Flexane94, mix it up and pour it in the stock isolator housing to fill the voids with hard polyurethane. Check out these pics of my crappy duct tape job. It ended up leaking all over the place, but it finally stopped and turned out good enough for government work.

After:

I'm a moron and didn't take any final pics, but they look as you would expect. Not aesthetically pleasing, but fully functional.

I rock the syko mounts. easy to use, fit perfect, and beefy as hell. i wanted bombproof mounts with no welds to break or thin pieces of metal, so syko is what i ended up with.

Weld 'seams' are stronger than the metals you are welding together. They can be very brittle if you want to get technical, but basically what im saying is breaking a properly matched and performed weld is impossible. Key word properly.

I want to see some pics of unstable-hybrids mounts. I heard they werent as much of a rip off as these newb companies lol

I will be pulling my motor out soon and i'll post some snap shots,I have Unstable-Hybrids O.G. mounts from back in 02'...I am also going to Atlanta to get some more mounts from Jason here in the next couple weeks. But Unstable-Hybrids closed shop because his ASSistant stole most all of his auto CAD drawings and girlfriend and went to a previously mentioned performance shop(if you wanna call it that).

I bought unstable hybrid mounts and mine bent after a month so when i rebuilt my engine this is what i did.I took the old mount traced it out on a thicker piece of metal, welded the upper plate to the cross member then then under braced it and boxed it in around the sides. Now i just need some better isolators and i might redo my the mount that bolt to the engine.
