A brief in-car interview with the new hosts:
http://jalopnik.com/5682130/top-gear-us ... -motorweek

They got rid of Adam Carolla and that other guy and added the guy from Rescue Me and some large fellow. I still don't have much confidence in the show. I have a feeling they'll call every car they drive "AWESOME" and never share their true feelings for fear of pissing off an advertiser. Adam annoys a lot of people, but I imagined him giving honest if dry commentary.

Freedom of expression is what makes BBC's original Top Gear work. They even let Jeremy get away with making hilariously racist, homophobic, and sexist remarks.

And Jalopnik, with their deep tome of journalistic experience, wastes the interview asking the guys what they think of Jalopnik instead of getting details on the show.

I have low expectations for the US version of Top Gear but will keep an open mind. It'll be difficult for the US guys to do bits that haven't already been done by the UK guys over their 13+ years. For example Jay Leno attempted to recreate their celebrity lap in a reasonably priced car bit on his prime time show and it failed terribly

I think much of the UK show's success is Clarkson's personality/charisma combined with the chemistry he has with May and Hammond. To me, it's more fun to watch a guy like Clarkson jubilantly screaming "POWAAAAH" out a moving car window than watching Faust effortlessly drift around a corner.

I also think they should have kept Adam Corolla from the old Man Show. That's his natural environment. We'll see.

I couldn't even finish it. Hopefully that video isn't a prelude into what the show will be like. I too think its going to fail. Will I watch it? Yeah probably, but its not going to be the same "Top Gear UK is on TV right now, f*** whatever else is on, I'm watching that!" type of feeling.

I think the more appropriate question is "Why is the History Channel called the History Channel anymore?" There's nothing History about it. It's all reality garbage. "History made every day" is a slogan they made up to justify all the reality TV on a channel that's supposed to be about the past.

I'm going to watch it in hopes of being surprised they have intelligent things to say about the cars. Even TG UK has somewhat become scripted with their antics but during "The News" section Jeremy, Hamster, and Captain Slow show how much they are into the world of automobiles and it flows so well with the trio.

See that's the thing that keeps us stuck with Top Gear, sure the cinema and stunts are awesome, but it definitely is the hosts chemistry and charisma that I enjoy the most. I would have to say my favorite moment was in the Bolivia special when Captain slow pulls out a machete on Clarkson.

in a perfect world, they wouldn't let car companies advertise on the show....maybe just tire companies or parts stores.

and Beer.

Yeah this looks like it will SUCK!. The fat guy has a faghole haircut, the guy in the middle has a mole on his face from which I cannot look away, and the quiet guy on the left sounds like he got raped by his stepfather as a kid, who are all huddled together in the backseat of a small car, sitting on each others laps. They have cocky American personalities with no character and apparently not enough knowledge about the production of cars. I hope it fails hardcore. I hope that the British TG talks crap about it.

There will never be a replacement for the greatness of Jeremy, Hammond, and James... ever

I actually have very high expectations of this show.

I think the first season will be better than the first season of Top Gear (which was atrocious), and I think it will rise meteorically from there. I see serious potential and I hope viewers stay with it long enough for it to become something really great.

They should have let Adam do it. I know him pretty well since I service all of his race cars. He's a pretty good driver and would have provided better honest commentary than the current crew.

Adam Carolla is cool and all but I sometimes hate his voice. The only thing I would love to see him in is The Man Show. That was the best show ever with Jimmy Kimmel. After the 2 short seasons or so and after those 2 other guys took over (cant remeber names, Doug something), it sucked so many hairy ballsacks from hell. You can never replace the original.

^..sersly one of the best cars ever. wow

it's all gonna depend on the chemistry of the three hosts.

the first season of Top Gear was awful, the second with the addition of James May was marginally better.

the show didn't really hit it's stride until about series 8

I usually maintain the speed limit with my hands at 10 and 2. I also want to convert an S-class into a reading room.

Yes!
Jesda will go on about weird features on the cars he's driving, Pezi will do some cool powerslides, and Greg will whine about how the suspension is too stiff for his back. :D

Top Gear USA should just be Top Gear USA. It shouldn't try and copy the UK show. If it manages to do that, it will be fine.
