Also, we can have Mr. floating dress up like the Stig so no children need to be scared by his voice.

He's obviously the most talented driver of the bunch, but I like that he's sliding into the "Captain Slow" slot. I'd be happy, however, if we didn't end up with a clone of the UK - I want to see their own individual personalities come out.
Foust has no personality at all. If you've ever seen him on Speed, he makes driving a supercar look boring. May on the other hand is stubborn about his fuddy duddy attitude and considers himself "above" his co-hosts, which makes for great humor.

If you've ever watched May's TV programs and specials, especially Man Lab, you'll find that he's the most enjoyable out of the three to watch by himself. Foust, on the other hand, makes Top Gear look like Motorweek. Even Motorweek, since moving to HDNet, has more interesting things to say about the cars they drive than Tanner Foust.

And he doesn't come across as snobby to me, just lifeless and afraid of being on camera.
I agree. I DVRed the episode and just watched it this evening, and it did not impress me. To me, it was a clone of the UK show's bits/routine's without the humor. Faust can obviously drive, but would be better as the Stig. They need Adam Corolla.

I must admit that this show was tough to watch. This is a direct copy of Top Gear UK, almost too much like it, but I think they are hoping they will get their own audience who never watched the UK version of it. The presenters are all wrong, they have no chemistry like others have stated, and they are the most important part of the show who will either destroy it or make it a success. Bring on Mike Rowe I say, this guy has awesome one liners, great voice, and like James May he is involved in other shows as well. Adam and Foust just suck terribly.

I disagree,I find adam extremely annoying,I have a strong passionate hatred for that man and I wouldn't have even tried watching it if he was on it.They need ken block in the show. That'd liven things up alot.

Adam Corolla is garbage. Adam Ferrrrarrrrrarrrra on the other hand is a solid stand-up comic. I still haven't watched it but might give it a go tonight.

I agree with the travis pastrana idea. He'd be a perfect fit for the show, bc I could see him actually being a part of the BBC version. Adam Corolla would be kinda played out. I just don't see him as a car man. They'd be better off using Jimmy Kimmel. I think the idea of having an American show about cars is a great idea, but don't call it Top Gear or even try to copy the Top Gear show, because its always going to be a let down. I think it'd be much better if they did their own original show.

Tanner Foust is easily the best driver there, so they can keep him but drop the other two guys. Add Travis P. and a Captain Slow Character and they would be set.

Or block, pastrana, and foust , although I dont know if they would ever drive the cars, there might be to much drifting

Keep Foust? I disagree. He is a freaking bore. Stephen Hawking could make a car sound more interesting than that a$$ could.

True, but Pastrana can pretty much drive anything, and do it well. And he's a cool, outgoing dude. Foust just has to go, plain and simple.

lol, Carolla has a airplane hanger full of cars and races a datsun 610.

Anyone who doubts Carolla for this should check out his current car show

Here is sample/video of his race @ 2010 Coronado Vintage Races

I meant I don't see him as the kinda guy that would be on a car show, but I would have to say he'd probably be most like a Jeremy Clarkson type character. Still say Travis would be the best fit for the show, without a doubt..

You know out of everything about this show the biggest thing that ruins it for me...no British accents or the whitty English remarks that they make when they talked. It's like that and Top Gear should go hand in hand.

Yeah, their English wit and intelligent humor is awesome. And their unapologetic attitude is totally refreshing, especially here in politically correct America. There is no way the US guys can match it, whoever they decide to get on the show. So I think they should just live up to the American stereotypes the UK guys love to poke fun at. Just be crude, loud, and obnoxious.

Like f1seb said, they are going to have to hope for success with new viewers. Pretty much anything the US producers can come up with, the UK guys have already done.

I take it you watched the video?
Shouldn't some one have thrown him a black flag or something when he was driving past corner workers with a belt in his hand?

Part of what I like is that he is just an amature racer, with all the mistakes that go with it... But he definitely got himself into a bad position there, I think I would have pulled over WAY sooner, or not even headed out with out the buckle... You have 0 chance of driving, wearing gloves/suit/helmet AND buckling up. Most of the time we don't even try to by ourselves.

I agree, he should not have gone onto the track unbuckled. He was playing to the camera which was dumb. He's clearly an amateur, bad footwork, many missed shifts, but his skills are probably comparable to the (non Stig) british guys. Was a nice 610, though.

I get your point... but to answer you question....

ALWAYS. All the hosts of BBC top gear are good drivers, no matter how they may joke about it. I am pretty certain all of them have competition licenses (judging from the fact that they have all raced in at least one or two races on the program that would probably require them..) Most of them have had professional instruction and all of them have tons of experience.
Maybe not professional racer level, but the show would be pretty crappy if none of them could handle a super car. Think if instead of Jermey's smoking power slides around the track all he could manage was crappy burn outs and uncontrolled donuts.

Needs a news segment, but of course talking about current events in motoring might introduce opinions, and opinions might hurt someone's feelings, and if a potential advertiser's feelings are hurt, then... then...

Man, this show sucks.

Its easier to teach someone how to drive than it is to teach them how to grow a personality.

I always thought the BBC Top Gear personalities were great drivers. And they have professional instruction from pro drivers, like for example The Stig. Granted they probably aren't ready for the F1 circuit tomorrow but pretty descent drivers none the less.

I honestly didn't think it was that bad, but yes Tanner Foust is lacking any real personality traits that are required for hosting a show. I think the reason why the first episode was so dry was because they felt the need to baby step their viewers into what Top Gear is about. Honestly, if they really think they prime demographic has never seen Top Gear or knows about the Stig, well, I guess the production staff is confused. Give them a couple episodes to get their footing and click as a trio. I do hope they start actually introducing the Stig properly. Foust needs to not commentate on any of the laps.

Oh and Travis Pastrana has his own show that he's doing for MTV and is busy prepping for next years NASCAR season.

I would gladly replace two hosts on the show.

Leave Tanner, he'll be fodder for all my mean and degrading remarks.

Holy crapsickle, I had no clue he was moving over to Nascar. Well that should be huge for that sport. They'll get a whole new set of fans from him being there.
