Tool Kit?

Hey Everyone,

I am thinking about picking up a tool kit for my S13, just a basic one (maybe some engine work and some suspension) for around $100? Can anyone recommend one, harbor freight, etc? Oooo, links would help me, too.

go to home depot and buy one. METRIC wrenches and ratchet/sockets, some extentions and deep sockets, some screw drivers. thats all you really need.

and of course for the stubborn rusty 240 parts, a precision poundometer.

Don't cheap out on important tools like sockets, ratchets, wrenches, etc. Hamers, pry bars and stuff yeah Harbor Freight it but try to stick with quality for the important stuff.

Craftsman had a 132 mechanics tool set for $99 on black friday. Maybe it's still there. Doubt it, looked like a decent deal. They also had a 19.2v drill & light combo for $39 and an led rechargeable light for $17. I could go on and on. Anyways, you might be able to find some good deals online, cyber monday!

Oh btw, stay away from their PLASTIC tool boxes their combos tend to come in, they suck. Not the metal tool boxes, they're great.

walmart ftw. honestly. i am yet to bust my set i got for like 20 bux (sockets and ratchet). i have used it on everything from suspension to engine and these tools are hard worked. ive even put a cheater bar on to the ratchet to loosen rusty strut to hub bolts. im not saying they are the best, but they hold up ****ing excellent and yet to break anything (going on 2 years, weekly abuse). 1/2 inch drive, extensions, 8-24 mm, 32, 30 mm sockets, spring compresser, torque wrench, vise grip, sharp knife, a good hammer, line cutting tool, cheater bar, and decent wrench set. thats all you need for hand tools, def need that sawz all with proper blades and a nice drill with some attachments (wire wheel, etc...). but for hand tools, you can get all the above for under 100. i wouldnt recommend it if it was junk but they have been great tools.

Dude you just hit the target, the saw zall is MY best friend. We've been through a lot. Its a must have for anyone with a 240, espicially a rusted one!!! lol

thats different altogether. op didnt ask what brand to use because he is starting a shop, he has a 100$ budget.

Craftman is decent and it comes with a warranty. That's the important part. Not everyone can afford snap-on and cornwell. And where did you go about hearing craftsman wasn't of good quality?

Craftsman is ok as of hand tolls but not all of them. I have a regular 144 pc Craftsman tool box and the wrenches suck. I now purchased their Professional fully polished wrenches and they are awsome so are the ratchets. Especially this one.... http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_1...chets

Whatever the pivoting & ratcheting ones are are awesome! I don't have them but they'd be sooo nice. Pricey though.

Yes they are. Only thing I dislike is the amount of teeth in their mechanism. That same ratchet is kind of a pain in the a** to turn in tight places, not enough "swing" but great non the less

I work at sears and in terms of a tool kit for ~$100 dollars the 154pc that was suggested is your best bet BUT if you can get enough money together to spend around $170 we should be running the 260pc for right around there in the near future(we had it for 169.99 yesterday and 159.99 on black friday). that set is the best for all around work on cars/around the house because of the range of sizes etc. in 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 inch drive plus combination wrenches in standard length and in midget form and so on and so forth.

I saw this at Advance Auto Parts That is pretty much the only tool that I have bought in about 5 years. its short when you need it, and extends when you need more leverage. I did my tool shopping back when I first got the car, I got a standard Alltrade tool set like thisand bought an additional set of screwdrivers for cheap. I also picked up a set of 4 car ramps for $20 at a garage sale like thesesam's club, or walmart are good places, decent tools that last IMO
