So the other night I was having dinner with a few of my friends... And one of them said "we were talking about you a few night ago, and we were wondering how fast your car was"... I was like, well how fast do you think it is...? Then the guy said "dont try and be a badass, just tell me how fast your car is".. That really pressed my buttons because if I was trying to be a badass, i wouldnt have a Q45.. i said it ran 13s and proceeded to ignore the rest of his car talk... He started babbling about having headwork done and some other stuff that most nissan folk dont do regularly..... He then said that he knows a guy with an 11 second cavalier... Didnt respond to that either, but the obvious response was WHO CARES!!! A 13 second Q45 is certainly more respectable than a 11 second cavalier in my opinion......

Similarly, I recieved my new bose HU from Jesda the other day and one of my firends came in and was like "oh sweet you got a new stereo for your car blah blah blah.. wait, whyd you waste your money on this, this thing is an old piece of garbage. How much money did you spend on this???!"

Im finding myself less and less able to talk to other car people that just dont "get it"... Im not saying that i know more about them necessarily, but I just am finding that I cant talk to other car people that dont think like most nissan guys do.. However, I find that I can talk to almost anyone that knows anything about imports and things like that..

Please dont take this the wrong way, I dont think im the OG of Q45 or nissans or anything, it just angers me when people display such ignorance and then pass it on as fact...

Yeah, I know just what you mean.

I'm constantly being asked "why do you waste your money on that thing?!" By kids driving civics. Fortunately, I don't spend a lot of time around naiive car people. But the few I do know are baffled by my love for my Maxima.

I agree that a 13 second Q45 (or even a 15 second Q45, for that matter) is infinitely more respectable than an 11 second Cavalier. I'm really sick of how a car's worth is constantly measured by its quarter mile performance.I love when high school kids try to make themselves look cool by telling me about their civic with intake or their integras. I honestly don't give a s***. Even if they can outperform my Maxima, they're not half the CAR it is. They just don't get that.

You also hit the nail on the head when you said you can't talk to other people who don't think the way most nissan guys do. Seems like there are a few of us who "get it" and everyone doesn't.

Most people derive a type of self-worth at the expense of others. People with self esteem do not need to act like that. I suspect this is why you cannot hang arough assclowns. Not a character flaw on your part for sure

Was talking to an ex-girlfriend about cars. She started rambling on about someone's RSX (insisting it wasnt rice) and I tried to change the subject. I just don't f*** care. Its a nice enough car, but EVERYONE has a f*** RSX, the same way every pansy-a** accountant drives a Lexus ES330.Oh, and not surprisingly, she bought herself a 2004 Mercury Sable.

I like cars with character, built to fulfill a design philosophy instead of a price point.

I like Jeeps, except the Commander. When I saw the concept I thought they were bringing back a Cherokee-sized sequel, but instead we ended up with a Grand Cherokee + worthless third row + price markup.

I went to a concert recently and drove my friend's 2000 Cherokee 4.0 (my Q's AC wasnt working) and actually enjoyed it. Steering was decent, the ride was good, the seats were comfy, and power was plentiful. We effortlessly covered 300 miles that day. There was plenty of room for people and junk.

I LOVE the commander, but I definitely wish it were Cherokee "Sport" sized instead of GrandPlus size.

I'm still pissed at Jeep for replacing the little Cherokee with the Puberty. So cute and annoying. Definitely does NOT belong among Jeep's lineup. Hopefully it'll die soon.

the Original Cherokee's rocked.

capable off road, roomy enough (about like blazer...)

Jeep needs to bring back uh...nevermind. If they brought back their pickups they'd just be rams....

I miss the Wagoneer. The real one.

My dad has an 01 Grand Cherokee Laredo, and I have driven it a couple times. It handles great, has awesome power, and is pretty good in moderate off road situations.

Hell his last truck was a 96 Cherokee Sport with the 4.0L and that thing was good too. It used to run right with my 240 when I first got it, and up till I did the cams and headwork. After that, it would only lag a little behind me.

When I was home on vacation this summer, I drove his current one to meet some friends for dinner. On my way home, a car had come into my lane. Fearing the worst, especially driving dad's truck when he wasn't home, I took her down through the ditch a little at about 60, and snapped her back on the road without so much as slidding in the grass.

Stablity is what I like in SUV's. The Cherokee has that.

like your car for what it is and what you perceive it to be. You got nothign to prove and no incentive to defend it. Sometimes I have people want to ask about my car I just decline because I don't want to hear other people's story about what they want to do their car

Every time someone starts talking about wannabes and ricers, my old junior manager at Pizza Hut comes to mind. The kid was a dork. Complete dork.

He got himself a B14 200sx SE. GA16. Thought it was the coolest thing on earth. He got a ricer muffler ("It's not rice...it's quite and isn't farty!"), and spend a saturday morning installing his first mod: an underdrive pulley. He also had some NASTY looking teeny wheels on it.

Man...he was dumb...he's known for such lines as "Dude! The 240sx is NOT the same as the Silvia. The Silvia's the one that looks like a Skyline. The 240's the one that looks like a 300zx!"

And, talking about my Maxima:"Hmmm...so...does that have an SR?" Yeah. SR32VDTT. VG b****. Start groveling.

He also wanted to drag me. Really bad. "I'll win. My car's lighter." I was tempted to challenge him and show up in my ford. Would have been pretty even, I think.

Let's see...what else...oh, yeah, of course there was always the "I'm going to swap an SR into it!" When the kid couldn't have told told you the difference between a CAS and a MAF.

Complete F&F bandwagon ricer, this kid was. The REAL manager at that store was an intelligent car dude. He had a badass MX3, and then later an even more badass Mazdaspeed Protegé with the most bizarro BOV I've ever heard. We made fun of ricer kid a lot. It was fun.

Wes, your friends are ricers.

You're a weirdo (a kid who knows cars). Accept it and move on.

I went through the same thing (except mine was Buick 350 vs Chevy 350, and I had to explain (over and over) that the Buick 350 was lighter, produced more HP and more torque.

Waste of time. Every assclown in HS with an F-body wanted a piece of The Champ.

Graduated with the dubuious distinction of having the 2nd-fastest car in school (damn 427 Impala with a high-rise) and America's largest collection of "Exhibition Of Acceleration" citations from the Peoria Police Department.

He did.

Buick USED to rock. There are plenty of Buicks from the "golden age" and even later that I lust for. Grand National, amongst other sporty regals...the Wildcat (I want a 65)...

My only beef with Buick is that often their version of a car would be so ugly I could never own one. (Skylark vs. Chevelle, for example. Almost bought a 69 Skylark back in high school anyway, though...)
