Honestly, unless you are running some monster turbo with a sheet metal intake and full standalone, I wouldn't bother as the gains will only be marginally better than the poncams.
The lobes literally will hit the head. So the head needs to be ground away to let the lobes clear. The GT28R will never make enough power to warrant cams like that. Seriously, just get some 260 poncams... that would be ideal for the GT28R. At least in my opinion. Or if they aren't sold yet, look on ebay. There is a set of HKS 264s on there.JDMSIL80 wrote:Can you explain why does the head need machining to fit these cams? I thought they are pretty much direct drop-in like the Poncams, despite the fact you need to put in valvesprings and shimmers.
I am running Apexi Power FC with GT28R, will do P&P to the head and intake manifold as well if putting in these bad boys. Would is be worth it to go with the 10.25?
Or just save all the money and trouble to just get the Poncams for direct replacement?
Please look at this thread: zerothread/170620JDMSIL80 wrote:I'm looking to buy a set of Tomei Procam with 260 duration and 10.25" lift, valvesprings, titanium shims and adjustable cam pulleys.
Does this package comes with EVERYTHING that I need to run these high lift cams in the motor? How would the idle and driveability be like with these cams?
My other choice would be just to get the 260 duration 8.8" lift for direct drop-in, but I suspect the power differences would be huge because of the lift.
Please advise, thanks!

The HKS 264s and the stock cam gears are all you'll need. These cams are great and should help you from mid power onto the high end. I had great success with these camshafts, but am now now using a 264 with 8.5mm lift on the intake side and a 272 with a 8.5mm lift on the exhaust on a well ported head and valve springs. Don't know how they'll act yet because I'm too lazy to put the assemblem upper end back on to the block. Great buy and you'll love them as well.JDMSIL80 wrote:Thanks mang! I just made the purchase on the HKS 264s
Should I be looking at the cam pulleys as well for further tuning capability? or just use the stock ones since they're not really worth it?
