So I went to my local infiniti dealer today to get my first scheduled service. Ialso told them to check the rear tires that they are leaking pretty frequently, I didnt know if it was a loose valve core or wheel speed sensor because I didn't find any nails or screws in the tires. So the guy comes out and says you have a screw in your right rear tire to replace it it will be $384. I looked at him and said are you f****** kidding me? So I say you can't patch it and he says no its too close to the sidewall so I say let me see. I am looking at my tire and its close to the sidewall but I personally thought it was patchable ( I was a tech for 3 years at a chevy dealership) and their tech is like yeah if it was an inch to the right I could. I bet if it was his tire he could patch it that p****. Anyways I said why don't you plug it and the service writer says it will pop out when you go around a turn and then I said just get it off the lift I have to go. I told him I could find the same tire onlline for 150 and he says yeah good luck trying. So I found two of the factory tires (the 18's that come with the sport package) for $260 shipped. What a joke that place is.

Sounds like a bad dealership!!!I don't deal with our local infiniti, I use our local Nissan instead.Never heard that plugs would just pop out! I've been plugging my own tires for years. I know you can't track a car with plugs. It just seems like Infiniti dealers think that all of their customers are stupid.$384 to replace 1 tire and give you attitude!!!

Here is my post on tires

zerothread?id=307229

My dealer charged me $1280 for 4 new tires that included tax, mounting balancing, replacing one tire pressure monitor and included a discounted $20 oil change. Ignoring the $20 oil change, $1280 divided by 4 = $320 per tire.

Well tire rack quoted me $233 plus I had to pay shipping and then find someone to mount them and hope they didn't $uck up a tire pressure sensor. Since I already knew one of them was flaky since the TPS warning light had come on a few times with tire pressure normal, I decided to go with the dealer. One of the things that I learned from my father, is always take care of the service writer $$$ on your very first visit. They will always remember you and take better care of you. Most days they have to deal with obnoxious and ignorant people & that $$$ will make their day. If they put a plug in that tire & it blew out & you lost control & happend to lose control & kill someone, a lawyer that finds out is going to rake that dealer over in court for $$$$$$$. It is much cheaper to just suck up a new tire. If you can afford a $40k vehicle don't take chances.

As the wise Ben Stern said to little Howard when he was seven years old.

"Shut up, sit down, don't be stupid you moron"

Good point but just because I bought my G for 38,000 (28,000 after trade) doesn't mean I should over pay for any type of vehicle services and/or maintenence especially since I use to be a tech. I will go to my old dealer and have them mount and balance my tires for peanuts. Just remember people who have money don't spend money! Seriously 2 tires for $260 shipped compared to $384 for one mounted and balanced, thats outrageous and insulting. Anyways I don't have to get the same tires that come with the car from the factory. The treadwear rating on those tires are horrendous. I had Nitto drag radials on my 2004 gto and those lasted for 10,000 miles these tires are only 4,000 more. Anyways ia ppreciate all thoughts and regards thanks!

I agree. No need to OVERPAY!!!!

I recently put Yoko Avids on my wife's G. Had my local Nissan dealer MATCH Discount Tire's price & do an alignment for $50.$710 out the door including the alignment!!!

See if your Nissan dealer will match prices....ask them if they have any coupon books.

Some Infiniti dealers rape their customers!
