Finally decided to tint my windows and tail lights and marker lights a month or so ago, ive posted pics of it before in my picture thread but I wasn't finished yet with creating that look.

The lights finish it off. Finally got an HID kit and my Wangan wing. Haven't painted the wing yet cause the weather has been terrible lately. Either rain or 20* out so painting hasn't been possible since I got it. Can't wait for a dry day to get that done and I'll post up some pics when I do.

But the dreary winter weather is why I did this blue day time sleepy eye running lights mod the other day I been meaning to do. And I finally got my HID kit installed. Bi-Xenon 6,000k.

Anyways, enough chatter, on to pics.
Lights off.

Blue Running lights on.

Image

Tail Light Modification I've done. Only outer tail light up. All tinted and nice to match the windows.
Image

The Wangan Spoiler needing painted lol. Fits great except I had to modify it a little bit by cutting of the tip on the drivers side to allow room for my Fuba antenna.
Image

Blue running lihts with it a little bit darker out at dusk. This is when I always use them besides when it's raining out.
Image

And the HID's all lit up. I'm getting different housings next week (2 differnt types) and they will be better. Once I find out which ones I like best I'll post up new pics of the new housings and I'll post pics showing the cut off also. But these lights are bright as fV(k
Image

I think it's pretty damn sick looking so I thought I'd share. BTW who says 240's can't look good with factory sized 15's lol. I like some meat on my tires

Edit 12/11/10
Promised I'd update with pictures of cut off when I got the new housings. So I delivered. Also pictures of the spoiler painted to match the rest of the car. And a video of me killing my old tires by drifting around in a parking lot.

Fixed the glare issue by duct taping over the hole in the shield. Thinking these burn cooler and it wouldn't be a problem, guess I was wrong as you can see it melted through the duct tape by the time I made pics of the second housing set lol. BTW they are both USDM cut off housings but because of the glare shield on the HID's it keeps the light from shining low enough on the housing for it to even utilize the housing cut off... They must be angled slightly cause you can see the way they cut off. with the high beam hole in the shield blocked THIER IS NO GLARE WHATSOEVER. Need a solution for that better than chrome duct tape though...

First housing option... Low Beam
Image

high Beam
Image

Second housing option... notice the duct tape melted through on the passenger side lol. You can sort of start to see the USDM cut off line with the duct tape melted away haha.
Image

High beam. Housings are identical, so no idea why the high beams look so different from left to right... wierd.
Image

Second housings have a blue halo ring which really makes the blue sleepy eye mod pop.
Image

Image

Wangan wing all painted up.

I know... too much fender gap. I put new, smaller tires on today. I need to lower the car some more now.

On a side note.... This is why I had to put new tires on today HAHA. Nothing like drifting a abandoned parking lot to finish off a set of tires. Also was using the blue sleepy eye's to stay visible but avoid blinding the camera with HID's (camera was below the cut off line)

Because it's EPIC lol. Right over the exhaust. I get a kick every time I see that on my car. I found it in the parking lot at work and I put it their as a joke for a friend of mine who always says my exhaust is toxic and decided I liked it. haha

The cut off aint great with these housings plus being bi-xenon has it's disadvantages in not so good cut off department, but it's decent. Also the reason I'm getting new housings next week. Cause these suck nuts. lol. The ones coming are a totally different and better design. Also 6,000k is the perfect color for non projectors IMO. Any bluer isn't as bright and is actually distracting and anything less just doesn't look as good to me.

Lol no JDM Tyteness... I love the way that wing looks its angles accent the car perfectly. It's angles are amazing looking to me. It's angle are perfect it flows with everything and I think it looks better without a body kit. And yes when I look at my car I that's exactly what I think. I park in places I can see it just to look at it and it gives me a kick every time. I can't help but smile. I think it's bad a**. I'm in love with my car. The reason I took pictures of it today even though I haven't painted the wing yet is cause of how impressed I was with how sexy that car looks to me the way it was sittin in the driveway with the blue running lights on. I can only imagine how good it'll look once that wing is painted and how nice my headlights will be with proper housings..

Btw I don't like cars that look "pretty" It just aint right IMO. They look nice, but any car I drive is going to be a mean, nasty beast of a machine that is made for purpose. And that's EXACTLY what my car is. I think things that function are beautiful. Like the inlets on lamborgini's that everybody hates and I love with a passion. Like the brake vents on just about any car that has them placed properly and functionally (most race cars). Like Subaru WRX. Everybody hates them because they're "ugly" but to me they are the sexiest cars on the road. They're sexy because they're functional and agressive looking. When I see my car I see what it's capable of and that's why it's so damn amazing looking to me. Just like when I see the wing and scoop on a WRX I see the function they serve and what that cars capable of. When I see that spoiler on my car I see what it's capable of and the purpose that that spoiler serves and it just plain turns me on. I can't get enough of it.

Here, lemme explain it this way. If I could make my car look like this I would in a heartbeat.
Image

^ That's just plain teh secks to me. If I had that car I wouldn't ever change a thing about the way it looks. Except maybe the wheels... Those aren't my style but whatever.

And I am not "that guy" lol. They have about the same glare as the original sylvania silverstars had. And I said I'm getting different housings to fix that issue. I have yet to be flashed for looking like I ride with high beams on all the time. so i know it's not THAT bad. Night time vision is worth it.

this is just my style. this is what i like. That toxic sticker, the grey w/black and tinted windows/lights look with a few chrome silver accents, the wheels with meat on the tires, the rake of the suspension set up, the way my interior is set up, The way that spoiler looks in my rear view, hell I even have come to like the damage to my quarter panel just cause it's character and I know how it got their and it aint hurtin nothin. I just love my car. I call it the beast. If you want to know my favorite looking car of all time is a grey gunmetal 86 300zx turbo with analoge guages black interior and five speed. That's my dream car daily driver. I would do no mods to it other than headlights, tinted windows and 17" 5 spoke black wheels with a chrome lip. If that was sitting next to my 240 after I'm done with it (making a mild drift/street car out of it) I would cream my pants. I would never leave the view of my driveway or the driver seat of one of the cars.

And anyone who doesn't like it... that's fine. Good for you. I do not care. I know their are other people like me who like cars like mine and if i'm the only one then that's fine too. I know I'm different.

hahahahahha we definately dont see eye to eye on the looks of our cars but you know what you want and you dgaf what people think. gotta respect that. we both look at our cars the same way, i have this picture in my head of EXACTLY what i want and i wont stop until i have it. props man. interested to see where you fly off to in this build. good luck.

1) The spoiler looks like a baby changing table. Please loose it. And then run over it.

2) You've got to clear your tinted taillights, unless you're going for the flat look. It makes the entire taillight look "murky" without a clear coat.

3) Blue DRLs look cool.

4) White toxic and blue drift stickers look stupid. When was the last time you drifted with this car?

5) You're going to literally blind someone with your headlights. Get some projectors man!
1) to each his own. I like the way it accents the car so I'm happy with it. Plus its very functional at high speeds and these cars have a light rear end so it's kinda needed for highway speeding. (I know I'm bad i can't help it sorry)

2)... I did clear them. They are just dirty. Plus I think I cleared them too early before they were cured. I need to re-clear them I agree.

3) thanks

4) I like them. Only stickers I'll ever run on this car. And I drifted it today. Almost all day. I drift almost every day. For the past 7 years actually... (again I know I'm bad I can't help it sorry I love it too much to quit and I try to be safe about it and not around other people)

5) The glare really isn't that bad. but i'm still getting new housings (will be here tuesday) to solve the glare problem.

And RJ that's HILARIOUS I cannot stop laughing now.

from a pm I got wrote:hey man, great looking car! but how did u do that blue sleepy running light? looks amazing and i never seen that!! also what hid housing r u using and what sleepy eye method did u use!! deff like!! keep up the work man
The running lights are just the blue city lights in the housings wired to the running/marker/corner lights in the bumper. You have to use the red and black wires for the corner light to tap into.

And the sleepy eye thing is easy to do. Just cut the brown wire in your pop up switch on the dash. Search it's been talked about hundreds of times.

And the housings are junk. They are cheap ebay crap. They sent me the wrong ones. The correct ones will be here tuesday along with another set I ordered since they're cheap just to see which I like better. The housings they sent me don't even have a cut off line so they're just relying on the glare shield of the HID's to create the cut off. Which actually still works it's just a straight across cut off instead of a _/ shaped one like the housings I have coming will have. And all three housings come with the blue city/running lights. Look on ebay they're all around 25 to 30 bucks. Just search for 7x6 headlights on ebay and DO NOT GET THE PROJECTOR ONES THEY ARE GARBAGE. But not all ebay housings are bad. The ones I had before the accident were great. Look up my threads and you'll find pictures of them. They were just JDM style meaning they cut like \_ instead of _/ like the ones I have on the way are. Just make sure you search HARD and sift through all the garbage to find the ones that are designed properly. And make sure you are buying the same ones pictured because they will do that whole bs bait and switch thing alot and end up sending you garbage instead of the good ones in the pictures.

Those are similar but I wouldn't use those. Unsure of the cut off. They won't give you blue sleepy eye's either. No city lights.

Heres a link to one of the housing sets I have coming this week.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... MEWNX%3AIT

Notice that they have the cut off built into the housing design and the city lights and also a halo ring (not sure I'll use it or not if I go with those)

PS: GIR RULES!

That spoiler is about as functional as a screen door on a submarine...

Look you've already proved you can take criticism like a champ and we all give you props for that, but come on man you can't be so diluted as to think that wing serves any other purpose than jdm tyte looks. For a guy who apparently really gets off  on the whole function over style thing, thats a pretty big contradiction.

I came in here expecting a flame war. rsmith you are one chill dude man. You do some stuff that I think is retarded (street drifting, wangan unpainted spoiler on a stock s13, the whole "real cars don't look pretty" attitude) but that stuff I guess makes you who you are, and you're stickin' to it haha. Keep it up.

I know for a fact that they work. I had the car up to 120 on the way to work today. Feels WAY more planted in the rear end above 70mph. It was squirley as hell before. Same strip of highway same everything else, just changed the spoiler so I know that was the difference.

Why so much focus on the spoiler anyways?? Christ it is a 240 and I put a wangan on it. Oh lawdy the end is near that has never been done befoe... We are all gonna die. It's not a big deal... I posted the pics to show how good the blue sleepy eyes looked with the car set up the way it was.

And I actually plan to test it using my good old fashion smoke bomb at 70mph test.

And again, I didn't mean that whole getting off thing literally... jeeze. It was a metaphore. Or did nobody esle but me take 11th grade english?? lolz I think you are actually smarter than that and knew that and were just trying to be smart btw. ;)

yea, but it doesn't look too great without the rest of the aero and nice wheel fitment.

Sarcasm yes, I wouldn't be talking to you if I though you physically got off on your car. (Though I'm sure I've inadvertently talked to some that have in the past...) :tisk:

I still maintain that the wangan wing was not designed or engineered in any way to have any aerodynamic affect on a vehicle and any difference you felt or think you felt after installing it was due to other contributing factors.

This is an example of a functional aerodynamic wing, complete with an explanation as to exactly why spoilers like the wangan don't do anything. Enjoi

Yeah I expected flame wars too. I could disagree on the wing to but if he likes it and doesn't care what other people think, whatever. Like I-L said, can't argue there.

Finally got it painted today. It was 35* and snowing today so I did it inside which was not my best idea... Fumes get STRONG very quickly lolz. May have killed some brain cells, but it's nice and even and mounted back up and looks freakin sweet. Not at my moms house so no camera but it looks like this car, just with my qp damage and my wheels and my tail lights and stickers and tint.... lol

I love the way that looks. I'll smoke bomb test it one of these days to see how it really affects the airstream, but I can tell just by looking at it that it makes downforce And I swear it feels planted in the back at highways speeds now in compairison... I mean if a little lip on the back deck lid of a nascar makes that much difference I know this is doing SOMETHING. Even if it wasn't "engineered perfectly" with specs... A good form is a good form. Thier has to be a reson it's a WANGAN (the name of a highway that is popular for high speed racing in japan) wing. Theirs a reson it's very similar to a 300zx TT factory spoiler... it was made for high speed racing and making downforce at interstate racing speed. It's gotta be atleast somewhat affective at doing it's intended job.
