Ok so i was wondering if anyone had the Megan Racing coilovers on this forum. because i'm looking into buying them and i know they're a pretty good company, but I'm not sure if their coilovers are any good. I know BC racing is awesome for performance, and tein rides better, but what about Megan racing? I'm willing to take the plunge and be the first to try it out like i did with the greddy, but coilovers seems like a different ball game.

Idk about Megan for our cars but I know several people that are happy with their Megan's on other cars. I also know people that are happy with their BC's on other cars but on ours I would say they are significantly more stiff than on theirs.

My friend currently has Megan coilovers on his STI, and they feel great. A little stiff, but not over the top and he's SLAMMED on some sick wheels. I'll try to grab some pics...

EDIT: Found some!

i think you're right, but i havn't seen any of them post anything about the coilovers.

and....

THATS A HUGE FMIC or at least it looks like it. thats also one of the cleaner STi's i've seen.
Plus i like a stiffer ride. its just my kinda thing. but hopefully my Greddy SE exhaust won't scrape too much lol.

Don't go off of other cars as a comparison. BC's on my friend's m35 feel great. But on my car it's a whole other story...

Thats very true. because on my brothers evo they feel awesome but i some people on the forums don't like them. It's all personal preferences so i guess i'll just have to wait and see how everything pans out.

Any updates? I'm also looking into getting coilovers, maybe not this year, but doesn't hurt to do research in the meantime :chuckle:

install went pretty well, we got them in no problem. but uhhh i can't get the front that low. i'm trying to get it just barely above the tire in the front and i can't seem to do that evenly. i'm not sure if its because of the coilovers or if i did something wrong during the install but i can't quite get them right. any ideas? The back on the other hand we got just right :bigthumb: i'll post up some pictures as soon as i get the chance.

alex,
My tests went pretty well thanks!

can you be more specific as to what you've done? Are they both maxed? or you cant get it level with them at the same adjustment?

alright so i fixed the preload that i initially set to lower the car until i read about how bad that was for your suspension... so while i was there i took some pictures, i think i maxed out the coils

everything is touching and tightened and its still sitting like this:

the back on the other hand, looks good.

not entirely sure about this but how much does megan say you can lower with their coilovers? not all coilovers lower the same amount, the front and back look lowered about the same amount so that may just be the lowest you can go. It'd suck if thats the case, try calling Megan if your still unsure.

The un-evenness may be due to uneven camber in front being uneven. After making all of the rings touch you can also try lowering it by adjusting the preload like how you did at first

I messed with the preload but it ended up raising the car a little. so i just set it to zero and i'm going to drive it around for a couple of weeks to see how it is and enjoy the coilovers.
btw the coilovers are actually really good imo. they're a little bouncy on the max low setting in the back but i don't mind. and they handle like a boss! and my tires are CRAP!!

here's some pictures i took after i washed my car and tried to find out if i could make it into my schools parking garage (massive speedbumps :tisk: )

Looks really good! I agree though, a little bit more lower in the front and it would be even better. I like your headlights btw, how hard was it to do the DIY blacked out?

EDIT: Oh, and how did you wire up your fogs to turn on independently? I wish I could do that haha.

4inch clearance in the front is what I use. Grab a 2x4 and stand it on its side. It should be able to clear the front. Then you should be good for the street.

and i keep trying to get the front lower, but to no avail. i'll let it sit for a week or so then mess with it again and we'll see what happens. actually my fogs happened accidentally lol. the hid's i got sometimes don't turn on so only the fogs turn on, but it only happens when i first turn my car on. and blacking out my headlights was a pain in my a$$ it took forever to pry open the headlight without risking melting it. but in the end i'm really happy with it.

You're stance looks really good from the pics. I don't actually wanna "slam" my car but the pic of your front looks just about where I want to be, maybe a tiny bit lower. Please keep us updated on its performance and any problems (which I hope not) that you may encounter. GOOD LUCK AND CONGRATS!

well performance is AWESOME! i love this stiffness of the ride. body roll is virtually gone. and turns are no longer a problem... on the other hand... speedbumps still suck... one thing i noticed though is that the back is a little bouncy. I think it may be because i maxed out the struts and springs. but who knows, i really enjoy it.
