ya know, i've always wondered about that. its not too hard to break traction on a hard stop with my s14 (all seasons and no ABS). Except for dealing with fade issues, bigger brakes are just gonna serve to make me lose traction easier, lol. I'll try the lines/pads/fluid route. Is there a preferred brake pad, or is it mostly personal preference?

Calipers are not rotational mass, they are unsprung weight. Still a bad thing...

Hawk HPS pads are good, a Z32 owner friend of mine said they are better than the Axxis Ultimates in terms of fade resistance. I liked my Ultimates and they had decent fade resistance, would only imagine the HPS would be better.

SPL Parts has the HPS for $54 for non-ABS cars and they are in stock, you could check around for other prices as well, our sponsors might also have alternatives.

I dont know if this will make any difference to anyones opinion now but I have some decent insight.

1st thing: Axxis pads suck compared to Hawk period...ok now:Though I did the upgrades on 2 different cars (s13, s14) i have experience with both.

The S13 got 26mm Z32 brakes, stock MC, good fluid and pads stock Z32 rubber lines...

The S14 got brembo replacements, SS lines, Motul 5.1 flush, Hawk pads and some speedbleeder (non-functional, Im just a big fan of them now :p)

I have yet to experience issues on my S14 that my S13 wouln't encounter. I do auto-x, roadcourse (this sunday baby!!) all in TX-AZ (it was 111* yesterday). I can still lock teh fronts of my s14 under about 30mph pretty easily (crap tires though).

Now obviously a Z32 could withstand more (especially if I got some SS lines and better pads for it), but the point is, is that my stock'ish settup on the s14 has proven pretty well for me so far (braking reptitively from 110 on straights) and the $200+ you can save from staying stock size Id say get some sway bars from ST or something....

We stock both the Z32 conversion lines and the regular banjo fitting lines, so either way you go we can support your needs.

The lines are $88 shipped for all 4 corners and are braided stainless steel covered teflon lines, with a protective cover to prevent premature wear from dirt and other elements.

Hawk HPS pads, which are better than the Axxis Ultimate pads by my personal experience, are $74 for the 300Z brake setup (shipped) and $54 for the Non-ABS 240SX (shipped).

We also stock ATE Superblue brake fluid which is an EXCELLENT brake fluid, it's even blue so it's easy to tell when you've bled out all of the original fluid. It's $16 for a 1 Liter can, shipped.

A nice addition to any fluid exchange would be a set of Speedbleeders. These allow for single person brake fluid bleeding. A set of two is $14 shipped, but you'd need 2 sets to cover all 4 calipers. It's definately something worth the investment to save the hassle. Also makes later fluid changes easy.

I did a Q45 brake upgrade and I think it isn't as good as everyone said it was. Oh well, they only cost me $62 for everything.

If I had to do it again and save some money, I'd go with SS lines, ATE super blue, and Hawk pads. You want to keep the brake balance you have now. If you do the Z32 caliper do both the front and the rears as well as the z32 MBC too! your stock MBC wasn't made to handle a total of 12 pistons! Good luck
