I'm thinking he meant just Mobil and not Mobil 1. I hope that's what he meant, because now would not be the time to try to run a synthetic.

Why is that?

I know I have to replace the valve cover gaskets (RTV) so thats one place that the oil will not leak from, Its leaking internally by the way.

Synthetic is great s***! My VH will bath in it, BUT older engines tend to leak with synthetics because they maintain their lubricity when they're real thin. I WOULD recommend a quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer in with your next oil change. It's GREAT! Oh, and the RPMs thing... I'm not sure how well it would apply in this situation, but physics leans toward it being more difficult to reach higher RPMs with friction from a lack of lubricant. 200 RPMs seems almost too insignificant to be linked to this, but hey! Good luck with this either way.

My build is getting up there, far from done. I can't really say how much... Are you asking how much for the entire car, everything, start to finish? Cause that's gonne be around 10k. BUT, the engine is only a small fraction of that. I got the engine for $Free.99, $600 in machine shop cleaning, measuring, and polishing, then there are accessories, powder coat, bead blasting, new hoses and lines, new sensors... yet the engine still only ends up less than half of the $ invested.

I didn't think of that but a oil pressure test will rule that out again.

Thats not bad at all but it will be a pain to work on the engine in the future I bet, Let me know how it runs.
