Throttle response? Interesting...... more hp equals better throttle response.

Yeah. the factory has (like I said earlier) ignition retard when you hit the gas.. Ours eliminates that...
Wes-

is there an existing 94-96 ECU that does away with the timing retard, or just the one you're working on?

I barely pulled away from a late-90's Explorer at an onramp stoplight on the way to work today

I just don't get it. I literally smoke people all the time in my Q. I've never had any SUV besides a Cherokee V8 stay anywhere close to me. I beat an empty newer Lexus LS with 4 grown men (including me) in my Q. Hell, I sometimes let people get head starts just so I can humiliate them. Maybe my Q is just special, but somehow I don't think that's it.

And believe me when I say, L.A. drivers are very aggressive, the most aggressive I've seen anywhere besides a D.C. cabbie (I'll give them some credit for my driving style). People here will do anything to get in front of the next guy, and I love being able to prevent them 100% of the time.

Here's a classic L.A. "d!ck" move: three lanes going your way, light is red, cars are parked in the right lane after the light, right lane at light is empty, so some cars get into right lane and when the light turns green, they blast off to get over in front of the cars in the middle lane. That's a classic L.A. move, I partake regularly, and you can pass dozens of "patient" drivers with this move. I know it's a d!ck move, but like Bugg's Bunny says "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em".

What's all this got to do with anything? My Q's throttle response is excellent. That light turns green, I'm gone.

any performance mods, Falk? or maybe the ignition timing isn't as horrid on the 97-01's as they are on the 1st gens

also, I too do that right-lane takeoff move whenever I'm in LA, depending on what car I'm trying to get in front of. Z33 or Mustang GT? forget about it...riced out Civic? bring it on!

Nope. Just an excellent running engine full of Amsoil, NGK Irridium IX plugs, and transmission full of Redline ATF.

Can the KS go bad and not throw a CEL? Last time I had my Q checked at the automotive shop there were no codes. Could something still be wrong or is it more than obvious? What is a reliable reader to buy for home use? I was thinking about picking one up to save me time when working on the car. Wal-Mart has one but I'm not sure about the quality.

Which would mean your Q is now at least 1.4 seconds faster to 60 than stock (without the bottle). Since I last drove it in 04, I would have said no. But since the ECU upgrade and all the rave reviews, I might believe it.

I think you need to do some drag racing.

the KS dont throw a CEL but they will throw an ECU code.. Code readers wont work on your car, you gotta pull the ECU, which is no big deal, only takes about 15mins.

So no code reader for the 97-01? Just ECU codes? Can there be more than one code given at a time? I was wondering how to figure them apart, just follow the blinking light and count them? I've been reading the prior posts and still seems alittle fuzzy to me. Can clarification be given? Seems like it would be hard to tell them apart if there were more then one code.
