Consider the motion of the Z31 hood and the motion of the engine under load.

The only similarity is that they are both moving.

the only mod I did to it was spray painted and slapped a tien sticker on it ahahah... but yea its compressed about 1/2 way down and its a pretty stiff shock cause the z31 hood is heavy and yea the motor does not shake at idle and when I rev the motor moves but not nearly as much as it did..

yea I dont think it will work on a aftermarket manifold but you could prob put one on the intake side or make a different bracket

Looks great...have you watched it under loading?

And it's a "damper," BTW.

My only concern would be how fast they wear out, but at $3 a pop, who cares?

It helps to preserve your engine mounts when your high powered SR moves back and forth due to engine loading. I saw a few Z31's at the local U-Pull It today. Will definitely try this out. BTW... I want Tein sticker too.

I'm thinking if the damper is bolted to the head wouldn't some of the torque now be transferred to the head thus stressing the head bolts? Yes, the damper would absorb some of this but stress would still be going to the head. Is there a way the damper could be bolted to the block instead?

I highly doubt there is that much force to even worry about. The damper would be less effective attached to the block anyways, it would have less leverage against engine rotation.

This is more of a seconary benefit, really. The primary benefit is to transfer the torque that was rotating the engine into moving the car. Should give slightly better throttle response at the cost of slightly less comfort.
