"having a new shaft made"......Hmmm good excuse to get a CF driveshaft made :-)

can we put in a really tall 1st & 2nd gear with this setup to get some crazy off the line accelerations? Also...how much extra weight will this add? (it might even balance the weight distribution out more evenly just a little have a 2nd piggy back transmission in the mid section of the car)

The GV Overdrive Unit does not affect the gears in the transmission. It is just a smaller 2-speed trans that fits to the back of the factory trans.

I am guessing that the setup would add another 60-70 lbs at the middle of the car.

If you went with a CF driveshaft, then you would save 30 lbs from that.-sijoko

Use two black boxes [in parallel input] with the overdrive/underdrive transfer unit. Select the appropriate one to drive speedo when you change gear ratio-----same switch. Thus no need to sample output of overdrive unit.
