My roommate moved out and wanted to take my Cadillac with him. I told him I needed $5100. He offered me his Dodge Ram and said if after fixing and selling it I didn't pocket $5100, he'd make up the difference, and then I'd give him the title to the Seville.

Last month his mom parked it at a mall in San Antonio and it got stolen. Apparently it was used to retrieve drugs or illegal immigrants. The ignition cylinder is screwy (doesnt spring back, needs to be wiggled around to remove the key) and the body suffered a lot of deep gouges from the fence it broke through.

Its a 2002 Ram 3.7, 2WD work truck. Currently has 87,000 miles.

It was found a few days later about an hour outside of town. The interior is shockingly still clean. The preexisting cracks on the dash turned into a hole, unfortunately. The cupholder is stuck open. The climate controls are stuck on high or off -- none of the fan adjustments are working, but thats how it was before.

Still drives great.

Just ordered:
Plastic dash cover - $135
Climate control unit - $35
Side mirror - $38

Need to do:
Ignition cylinder - Quoted $275 at a Chrysler dealer
Paint/body - $400 from my local body/paint guy

I mean, I guess I could keep it, but... nah. Maybe if it was a 4WD Quad Cab with leather.

Yeah I did. I've got my eyes on a white diamond Seville in Oregon with a shale white interior. I got used to the grey interior in my Silver '01 but after having had one in white, white is just better.

I'm interested to see how it looks after the fix. I've seen body guys do wonders. But then again I've seen them do total crap.

Good grief, you don't hang on to any car for very long. Is the Saab some kind of record?

I think my '92 Q45 is the longest I've held on to a car, which I think was around 2.5 years. The Saab is also getting close to the Q in money spent.

I drove a Sentra from 1997-2000 but it was rear-ended three times, and I was in high school so I was just happy to have something to drive.

Oddly enough, my '92 Q45 is my longest held car at 1.5 years. Gotta love those Qs!

It's a nice looking truck overall. I think if you add a little boy peeing on the 24 decal on the back window on one side and "Sunoco official gas of NASCAR on the other", you should have no trouble selling it at a profit. :dblthumb:

Jesda, if you're going to buy a truck, it needs to be one of the following:

Looks like a solid truck, I don't know a lot about the Rams but I think you can get your money back out of it. They seem to be decent trucks, although I don't know if it would be my first choice but i'm still not very trusting of most things made by Dodge(The Commander is an exception currently). I see a lot of them on the road though so it should be a good flip for what little work it needs and the mileage on it.

The Commander has the 3.7 in it and overall I don't have any complaints about it. It's not a powerhouse but it doesn't disappoint me either, this weekend is the second long trip we've taken in it and it does great on the interstate overall. It does much better passing and maintaining speed compared to the QX4 we had.

I got to drive the Mart LT's a lot when I worked for the Lincoln dealer, I still want one bad. Hands down the nicest truck i've driven and if I were in the market for a truck I would own one.

:wtf2: I don't remember posting that... is sleep-posting a solid excuse?

I'm wondering how the fu*k those scratches got so bad! I'd guess you'd have to run a barb wire fence and carry it around with you for a couple miles, then let it sit by the marina for a few months...

That's just a bad blower motor resistor. Easy to replace (behind the glove compartment) and only about $30 for the part.

I'm mad as Hell Ford stopped selling them in the US, claiming the Platinum F150 is an equivalent replacement. Does it have crosshairs? No? Then it's not an equivalent. They do still sell it in Mexico, where's it's very popular.
I intend to buy one at some point. Maybe a couple years down the road when prices have dropped a little more.

He's right, I just replaced the one in the Commander last month while we were on vacation. It was doing the same thing you described, stopped by the Dodge dealer, picked up a new one, swapped it in the parking lot and problem solved.

I don't mind the F150s but the Platinum edition doesn't interest me, if I want a nice truck the mark lt would be it for sure. I was pissed when they quit making it too, I never enjoyed driving a truck that much.

Your friend will have to make up a LOT of cash on this deal, methinks.

Proceed with caution.

Which Cadillac is this, the 4.9? Say it ain't so.

The '92 4.9 was sold a few months ago. transmission was starting to act up in cold weather at 200k. 20years/200,000 miles is about when most Hydramatic 4T60Es expire.

The car I traded was the 2001 STS I picked up in Pennsylvania. Dropped the Ram off at the paint shop today. About $850 for paint and a new grille and mirror.

So you wasn't happy with the one you had, and gave it to your buddy? Are you trying to trade the truck for this seville?
