this does not apply to the new accords.... honda modding scene is so much more gangster than most imports... if you are bored oneday look up "killer cams"... that shiit is ruuuuuuthless individual throttle bodies... for that i give it up to the honda scene.

I do get the appeal of the VTECH YOO! lol. I say only trade if its the top of the line model engine wise with MANUAL transmission. Honda's manual transmissions are some of the best in the business.

but In your place i'd go for a 07 s2000 for 20K$ or an 06 acura RSX type S or TL type S or a 07+ 350z with revup engine or an 09 rx8 R3. they all hover around the 20K mark and they all are MUCH more entertaining.

sell you altima privately and enjoy life

P.S. I like my performance hondas lol

Well I like to stay with the vq motors. Get a z you wont regret it. my first car was a 92 honda accord with a h22 swap. i love it but then I drove the my 350 it was crazy i love the motor now the hr motor halls a##. If you like honda accord do it. I will always love honda cuz its my first car and you can drive like 300000 miles and still runs. i say test drive a bunch of cars before you make your choice. Thats what i did when i got my 370. hands down the best for the money

Any reasons for the opposition here guys?

Wow, total h0m0 fanboy attitude.

Apparently the majority of the people in this thread have not been in a new Accord. They're fantastic vehicles. Very comfortable and fun to drive. Great dash/controls in the new ones.

I say go for it. You cant beat that kind of warranty. Plus the aftermarket is huge.

This is true. I'm with Mehdi and Ryan on this one. I'm not sure why all the Honda hate. The cars are comparable. In fact, if it weren't for how difficult it would've been to get an aftermarket stereo in the Accord, I'd probably be driving an Accord coupe right now. I loved the manual trans in my civic, and it's the one part of the Altima that is still a bit disappointing to me. Don't get me wrong, I love my car, but the Accord is still an excellent vehicle. If you're done with the CVT, move to the Accord if it'll make you happy. Just as long as you don't get destroyed on the financing.

My congrats to you when you get the Accord dude. It's not worth talking smack to another person for their car when they are the ones making the monthly car payments. I sure hope you get 20k for your car. I was tring to trade my car in last year for a GT-R and all they were offing me was 17K. The car only had 12K miles no scratches and I was even going to leave them the Stillen spoilers and smoked tail lights. I was taking the turbo and everything else off. I even offered to turn my car back to stock since I have all the OEM parts in my garage, but they wouldn't budge. So I said screw them and didn't trade her in.

Good luck with your car choice and you have my respects .

Bahaha really. Calm down little girl. You throwing a clot? So you had one bad experience with a car and you wrote off the whole manufacturer? Great logic, because Honda Accords haven't won tons of awards for being great cars or anything

Please expand on what was so traumatizing about your Honda.

Reading comprehension owns you. I said you all had typical h0m0 fanboy attitudes, not that you were a h0m0. I couldn't care less what your sexual preference is.

I've been inside of a 2003 accord, and was shocked to see how much of it reminded me of the Altima (location of buttons for seat warmers, set up of vanity mirrors and eye glass holders, etc) Of course it wasn't an exact replica, but it was very interesting none the less... and since the Accord was around first, its pretty clear where Altima got some of their cues from... if you're going to go at the competition, why not take what they do and try to do it better

that said, I think it is an undisputable fact that Honda makes some of the most reliable cars in the business... I would argue that the Camry Coupe and Altima Coupe exist primarily due to an attempt to steal some of the market from the car that has been the blueprint of the "mid size coupe" for over a decade... the Accord Coupe

so with all of that said, i don't think anyone can honestly say that Honda makes a bad car.. Soxypoo had a bad experience with Honda, but it doesn't mean Honda makes bad cars... MANY OF US have had bad experiences with this phucked up CVT transmission, it doesn't mean Nissan makes bad cars, but they did put a weak transmission in ours in an attempt to offer something different...

In any case, any opinions of whether or not Mike should trade his Nissan in for a Honda won't revolve around build quality, but rather OPINIONS... soxypoo and others made light hearted opinions about the cars, with an obvious slant towards being pro-Nissan since this is a ... wait for it

... wait for it...

NISSAN ALTIMA COUPE FORUM!!!!!! and I think most folks took their comments as just that.. light hearted humor poking a little fun at Honda, which is a car that any REAL CAR ENTHUSIAST may not like, but has to respect...

Ryan, you ask why those guys had oppsition, well truth is, when offering an opinion, you don't need a reaason, that's why its an opinion.. they may not like the chrome door handles, or the weird sloping rear, or whatever.. but there's no need to call folks out just because their opinion differs from yours... I wonder if you're this confrontational in person, or do you just get a kick out of trying to own people on the internet?

I love the front of the Honda Accord but not the back so much, nor do I like the chrome trim and door handles. It's really all opinion though in that respect. Honda's are good. But a lifetime warranty? Never heard of such a thing.

Doc, I don't honestly believe that you think like that. An opinion not based on anything causes so many of the worlds problems. The opinion isn't the issue, it's blindly following it without reason. Most of the posts against Honda in this thread had no basis. That's what was being called out. The "I drive a Nissan so I'm gonna hate all Hondas" thing is crazy. I'm white, so I'm going to hate all blacks/mexicans/asians/etc. I'm straight so I'm going to hate all gays. I have a degree, so I'm going to hate the less educated. Granted, these are more extreme, but the principal remains the same.

Honestly, people on the internet need to have thicker skin. I don't share the opinions of everyone on these boards, and I certainly don't expect you all to agree with me always. But good luck getting me worked up over my opinion.

Either car is awesome man.I love my coupe but my best friend has a new accord coupe 4cyl and there is a long list of the things i perfer on his accord over my car Its all about preference In my opinion the interior on the accord is very nice, alot of buttons but its very nicely laid out. On the other hand it feels like a bigger/heavier car when your driving it. Not sure about the weight but his handling is a little heavier

Good luck though Im sure you'll be happy with either

Once again, someone posts an opinion that goes against the grain (and has actual valid points to back it) and they get flamed in this forum. Isn't that what we are here for? I have owned both Nissan and Honda, and was very satisfied with both. Either way, to the OP, do whatever you want because in the end it is your money. You will not be disappointed with the Accord, it is a great car.

i think everyone probably made this decision on this board before they bought the AC. i know i was deciding between these two cars. It came down to the car's availability. I would've been happy to have either one. I wanted a black on black car. Honda didn't have it...and I didn't want to settle on a grey one or whatever dark metallic color they call it. Finding a 6sp in both were almost impossible to find. Everywhere i called said they didn't have one. So i settled for the CVT, also because I wasn't too fond of honda's VCM tech that came with their auto. But in all honesty, if I would have found a V6 6sp manual, I would've bought an accord. Their aftermarket appeal would've made all the difference to me. But either way, they're both nice cars. But when it's my time to sell off my AC, I'm looking at 2013, I'll probably up the ante a bit and go with a BMW, Infiniti or a lexus. i say 2013 because that'll be just about the time for all three manufacture refreshes on their 3series, Gs, and IS's.

I don't think people should give opinions without their justification or reasoning. I'm sure the OP would love to know why he should or should not get a different vehicle.

vey, very, very different scenarios... but even in those scenarios, opinions are opinions, whether they happen to slant towards fact with logical reasoning and backing or borderline stupitdity, they are still just opinions... he didin't ask for an essay on pros and cons (which some of us chose to provide anyway) he simply asked if he should make the trade
BlackMamba08 wrote:i think everyone probably made this decision on this board before they bought the AC.
perhaps, but that doesn't mean folks would make the same decision today... after having experience with the CVT, I know for sure that some CVT owners would have gone with the Accord, or just waited until an MT was available... the difference is prior speculation vs. experience after owning and driving the A/C

NO!!!! that is not the issue here at all. have you even read the posts?? Some folks have said stay with altima, some folks have said do what you like. I myself posted all of the positives about Hondas, so your entire statement here is invalid... he didn';t just go against the grain, because tehre was no grain to go against, he's blatantly trying to own buddy iver the internet, which is wack. Tellling folks they have **** fanboy attitudes, calling them females, and saying they are on their period is more than just going against the grain!

the issue here, and I've said it before, and I'll say it again, is not about having thick skin.... in my recollection, Ryan has not made a single valuable , positive contribution to the A/C forum... his posts are most often filled with sarcasm, rhetoric, or just smarta$$ comments aimed at making another member feel bad. It's one thing to give and get into a little back and forth, but to do that coupled with never posting anything positive is just annoying.

Furthermore, my point was, if you're gonna be the baddest dude on the internet (which is stupid, but some like to do it anyway), be the baddest dude in person as well. I haven't said a single thing on these forums in my disagreements with Mehdi, Cali2baltig, 93coupe, or Greg himself that I would say to their face.

back on topic... OP, if you found an 09 V6 accord, with low miles and a clean carfax, and you can do a private sale of your vehicle, and you hate the CVT, then i think its a great idea if you like the way the Accord looks, it may be a while b4 you find a bettre deal! although I just can't see an 09 V6 selling for that low... it defies logic!
