I'm thinking of buying a 240sx project car, pig nose s13 hatch actually. It'll be february after I get back from basic and tech school and I want some info.

What are some things that the average person may not know about them?Do 240sx's have any major issues that I should be aware about? What should I look for in a good car for building up? (aside from bent frame of course)I also heard BC cams were absolute crap in the ka24de's is this true? and if so what are some other widely known and trusted cams?

any other info is greatly appreciated

Just remember that you will be working on a 20 year old car and things will not go as well as they would on a newer car. Give the project the proper time, love and money you will end up with a car your will enjoy for a number of years to come.

Don't go half a$$ on the project. Spend the time and do itright the first time.

Enjoy

I say go for a shark nose. 91 or higher. Mines old and i have issues w/ rusty bolts and crap. I can only imagine how much worse a pignose would be to work on.

Google "nissan s13 problem" and you get over 350,000 results... Every car has their problems. Luckily there is a fix-it write up for every problem with the s13's so it's really easy for anyone. There's actually a really funny thread about 240 problems. I think its called "You know you have a 240 when..." If someone could link & revive that thread please.Rust is a big killer in s13's and every other one has been modded meaning it wasn't driven by your grandma and was roughed up a little. The KA's don't have much room to grow and putting money in them for N/A is like have $100 rolls of toilet paper. But maintained properly they can be very high mileage motors.Their are some really awesome and envious build thread on NICO. Search around for some really nice one's and get some budget ideas.Don't forget that the 240 also has lots of front end conversions. My s13 has the silvia s13 conversion. Other famous ones are around too.Aside from that, the only car I would drive other than my s13 coupe and wife's s14 is an r32 skyline. I have done my good dead for the day.
