the fy33 is going to need tires soon, and i hate the 16" 5-spoke 'sport' rims.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AIT

if i can get my 15" BBS basketweaves on the fy33 (did a dry fit, they rub the front calipers ever so slightly), i might even try the F50 17" on the active.

7.5 width with 35 offset is 'bout perfect, right? Soooo many more performance tires in 17" now......

okay, fire away......

I like the way the eight spoke wheel looks on the G50.

Are these wheels 7" or 7.5"? The tires 225/55 are 26.7" to 27.1" in diameter, close to one extra inch. OEM 26.1. Will that be an issue with your a? I don't know.

This pic has 18" rims.

thanks D. whose G50 in the picture (for sale)? yeah the ones i have my eye on are 17X7.5. I'm not completely sold on the 8-spoke yet, but i do want that extra 1/2 inch width. you bring up very good points on the tire height/revs per mile. according to tire rack, those EL42s in 225/55/17 will make 780 revs per mile, vs. the 801 for my G009 15's now. so, i'd have taller effective gearing.

but, the cool thing about that extra 1/2 inch is that i could run a 245/45/17 on the 7.5 rim. mmmm 810 revs/mile, quicker ET.....

I really can't remember. I think I downloaded this a few years ago before i joined Nico. I was surfing the web looking to see if anyone had ever done an elaborate sound system. Maybe cardomain?.....

They'll look nice, they'll be super tucked like the stock ones though, but if the cars stock, stock height, etc, it will look OEM. Keep in mind, my front's are 8.5" +20 and STILL too far in, +10 would be just right.

235/50/17 are almost perfect at 26.2-26.3.

Jay, when did you get an Y33?

Put those 17" rims on your G50 - that would look sweet!!!!

If you can score those under 500 I'd say you cannot go wrong.

In 17 or 18, you really need 8.5" wide wheels minimum to fit the requisite 255 section tires (255/45-17 or 255/40-18).

TR has Borbets in the 17 that are pretty inexpensive, and the OZ Ultraleggera will barely fit in 18x9 with +35mm.

Any less width, and you are wasting your money as the tires you can mount will be of too small a section.

I agree, that would look very sweet!

Just a suggestion. Drop that (F)Y33 1 to 1.5 inches and find some 7-spoke 18x8 +30mm G35 coupe wheels that you can use with 225/45 or 235/45 inch rubber. Nitto, Toyo and Cooper have the 225's in a 95 load rating.

The 97-01 Q OEM tires section width are 215 to 225 depending on which year and model so you should be fine there.

The G-Coupe wheels will take an extra 3mm from the inside of the wheel to the front strut housings and may be a tight fit. But will stick out an extra 23mm than the stock 16x7 +40mm or 6mm more than the 17x7.5 +30 99-01 Q45t wheels.

Just thinking out loud

I know I'm going to get flamed. But please understand...no offense is meant to the Y33 guys (especially Falk who has yet to hand me the keys). Looking at them side by side makes me think Nissan reverse engineered these cars. The Y33 has a more dated look than the G50 and when you think about the decontenting and power loss as the years went by.... it's kinda sad. Same story with the interior.

No offense taken since you're wrong. Can't deny the Y33's inherent sleekness and the interior is miles ahead of the G50's.

Brian-this is the first i've heard about a 255 required section. why? i can't get more than ~0.6g without the active giving up. are you differentiating between section width and contact patch? i'm curious.

also, are borbet's of your experience? i did see them on TR, even like the type S which now seems discontinued, but am not sure of their ability to handle the weight of the Q.

245-45-17 or 245-40-18 is approved for 8.5 in wheels... 245-45-17 also has 95 load rating.

FWIW. I just noticed the tires in the auction listing "225/55R17 95V Bridgestone Turanza EL42". Those are horrible tires for anything more than basic "commuting" .

yeah, the tires would be expensive cushioning material for shipping.

although, i can't deny that i would at least *try* them before swapping out.

that one didn't pan out.

here's next possibility: 8.0 width w/ 40 offset. my hand calc says 15mm closer to 3rd link. what you guys think?obviously thse tires wouldn't be for the Q.

You're killing me here. You do know I have several sets of wheels/tires and would be willing to let at least one set of the 18's go?

I do like the FX wheels though .

Do the FX wheels in 18" come in only the dull finish or are they available in hyper silver?

AFAIK, there was only the one color and then chrome.

I think the FX wheels come in the powder coated look too.

8in 40mm would work.

I think that's the "dull finish" he was referring to above. I haven't seen a bright or "hyper silver" verison that I can recall. But that doesn't mean they don't exist.

yeah, it was actually EQuippD that reminded me about the 7 spoke option (which i prefer over 8 spoke). i'm not really big on 18" wheels though--would really like a factory (or at least substantive) 17x8, 35 offset, 7 spoke.

Rex- I'm not unappreicative that you have wheels for sale, and I'd love to help a NICO brother --it's just that wheels are a highly love it or hate it thing for me. not much middle ground. hope you understand.

They will work ok with 245/45-18 tire.
