I'm moving, I already sold the Versa and I'm going to sell the G35 leaving me with just the Lexus for the wife and I. I'm going to be living just a few minutes from where I'm going to be working and the commute will be through residential streets. I was thinking about getting a bike since it seems like a total waste to have a car for such a short commute. I don't think I want a sport bike as it's not really my style and with my build (6'4, 250) I would look like a dumb a** on one. So far the bike that caught my eye was the Honda phantom shadow (pic below) 750cc and a retail of around 8k make it interesting.

Any advice? possibly another bike that I'm overlooking?

What is the weather like in your area?

Something with a windshield might not be a bad idea. Riding in the rain really isn't bad if you are geared for it.

If its mainly for commuting, I would suggest more in the touring variety. Yamaha XT series, or the Suzuki V-Strom series are very comfortable, have lots of baggage options, and have proven themselves to be extremely reliable.

Another option would be a sport tourer like a Honda VFR, Yamaha FZ1, or Kawi Z750/1000.

So many options.....
