Things I wish the EX35 had...

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

1) That windshield washer nozzle is anemic. I got more force coming from down under when I pee compare to the EX35 front washer.

2) Standard HID on all trim. What the heck are they thinking? I have a standard bulb in a projector lamp? I couldn`t even see an elf trying to hitch hike on the RIGHT side of the road How much more the interstate signs?

3) 6 Speed Auto!

4) More torque like the G35!

5)What happened to the norm? (Side marker/ turn signal light?) either front fender or side view mirror.

6) I want hood scoop like the STI !

So far I have 8500 miles on my EX, and for the most part it has been highly satisfactory. The one thing I would have liked is "Hill Descent Control" All the elements are there, and it could have been part of the the "snow Mode". I had it on a 4Runner, and I have to say going down a steep drive is a piece of cake.

- 6 speed- HID is standard - Yellow HID fog lights- hitch- 20" wheels option

Other than these, I think the car is satisfactory!

a USB port for music... WHO THE HECK USES SD CARDS FOR MUSIC?!?! SERIOUSLY... Whoever decided that SD CARDS are a standard for music transfer needs to be fired. And it's not only Nissan/Infiniti that has this problem.... *sigh*

More Legroom in the back would be nice

OH YEAH, seat cooler like the ones in the FX would have been awesome to have for the summertime

Dedicated audio navigation control... this whole sharing audio track navigation with the cars menu system is annoying...

Got so used to Digital MPH readout on the 350Z that I want it on the EX35... even if it is right there in analog...

Heated steering wheel like on my Maxima (hate wearing gloves to drive)

More usable cup holders. If the rear seats are down, you only have the center console. Since car lacks storage, I tend to use the front cup holder as storage. Car lacks storage, period. Center console's room is taken up by all of the connections in there.

Infiniti should have known, women like lots of storage

Tire Pressure read out.

This I may have mised (but miles to empty reading)

My EX has a Miles to Empty reading...two actually. One you can select on the gauge cluster thing and the other one pops up on my Nav screen when I hit "status".

I agree - a USB interface would be great.

Not to put too fine a point on this, but it's CF cards NOT SD cards, that are used in the EX. I would prefer SD cards over CF because they're smaller, less expensive (with respect to capacity) and more widely useful for other purposes (e.g. the typical digital camera).

(Yes, "miles to empty" is available on the driver's gauge cluster or as a "Status" reading on the touchscreen. I use the touchscreen one so I can keep the outside temperature on the driver's gauge cluster.)

Cheers,David

Hmm ... you may have misinterpreted what was said because I don't think "overdrive" has any bearing on "hill descent control".

Also, as I understand it, the slushbox in the EX is 5-speed, that's it, that's all - no additional concept of "overdrive". If anyone has more info, please chime in.

Thanks,David

I much prefer my EX35 to my previous car (Audi A4 Avant) but here are a few things I miss:- a proper digital read out of instantaneous fuel economy in the gauge cluster rather than the 'bar' display we have- hidden storage drawers under the front seats- a power outlet in the cargo area itself not just in the cabin.

If find that the rear door has to be opened quite wide in order to gain reasonable access. On those occasions when you're parked in a tight spot, this becomes a difficult proposition. Click on this link to see a cool innovative alternative: a rotary disappearing door!

As a previous Audi A4 Quattro owner, I definitely agree with your commment re: missing the MPG readout and the power outlet in the rear.

I would also add to the list of what the Audi had but the EX35 does not: the outside sideview mirrors are not electrochromatic like the inside rearview mirror. When driving at night for long distances, especially on a highway, I really appreciated that feature in the Audi. With so many cars with Xenon headlamps, the glare/reflection in those mirrors can be pretty intense. Because I live in salt-the-roads country, headlamp washers is another feature I'd like the EX to have.

A more logical windshield washer layout. You have to move the lever forward to wash the rear window and back to do the front. To me it would be more logical to direct the lever to the window you want washed.

The way it is setup now actually is the right/logical way. The motion you sweep the stalk to corresponds to the flow of water. So sweeping it backwards gives you a flow of water direction from front to back - hence the front windshield is washed and vice versa for the rear.

Wow that was kinda hard to put into words... I hope I didn't confuse anyone...

Agree with the headlamp washers. First car I have owned in years without it (3 Saabs and an Audi).

Rear fog light for whiteouts, fog or heavy rain.

Better side turn indicator lighting

Tow hitch receiver.

More room in the rear seats.

Otherwise, very pleased with it.

Bottle holders in the door cavities ala 2009 Pontiac Vibe(gf's car). Not good for coffee but for the "bad" plastic water bottles. They wont get in the way when shifting.Frost indicator that will override whatever else is being displayed at the time on the info screen. As it is now, it's only visible when displaying the outside temp.

Never mind about the icy warning. There IS a way to set that as an alert in the settings menu of the dot matrix display when the car is running but stopped.

I'm sticking with the Trunk Monkey.
