Made some more progress on the interior today...

Prepped the floor for the new carpet, finished detailing the door jambs and panels, did some work on the dash / steering wheel, and refinished some other parts.

The flash makes the carpet look grey, but it's a deep black. Just finding a carpet kit for a 67 Datsun was a PITA!

This part was fun - The seats sit on little bell-shaped pedestals. They were pretty funky after 45 years, but a couple hours on the wheel and they look sharper than they did when they were new... I made a little "jig" to hold them out of a trans bolt and a couple nuts.

Nice details like this are often overlooked, but I like the contrast against the black carpet.

I'll get more pics without the flash, it really does look better in natural light... Coming along!

Those would rock, but I need some with a less aggressive fitment.

Need to keep it old school. Not boso.

Hey Greg you ever check out Diamond Racing wheels? They will custom make them for you and I hear they're really cheap. I'm more then likely run them on my s30.

Here's there custom section....

It runs, but you'd be nuts to "drive" it.

It's got sketchy brakes, shot bushings, and the tires are shagged. Needs a full restoration.

Of course, the day I got it home, I threw in a battery, hit it with some starting fluid, fired it up, and blasted off through the neighborhood. Found out the brakes were pretty much useless, steering was sloppy, and tires were making horrid noises. Then I get pulled over, LOL.

Officer: "So, this car has no plates, no registration, no insurance, no proof that you're the owner, no brake lights, no turn signals, the tires are bald, it's wandering all over the road, it's leaking something, and it smells like it's on fire."Me: "Yes sir. Pretty much."Officer: "Get this thing the HELL off the roads. Have a nice day."

When I get pulled over in Phoenix the first thing I'll say to the officer is "I know Greg Childs".

"Move along, sir."

The interior work is finished, with the exception of the front seats. I need to find an upholstery person to redo them in the same material, but that'll have to wait a bit.

It's pretty hard to take pics of a black interior, but you get the idea. The sound deadening really transforms the driving experience - The car feels much more solid, and road noise is damn near nil... It's nice and quiet inside, almost like a new car!

Check out the ashtrays - One on the top center of the dash, and one on the back of the passenger seat - SO cool!!!

...and, here's Alice chillin' in the garage with Jezebel and Marilyn.

Got the front end lowered this morning.... Roadster springs bring the front end down even with the rear, and she looks SWEET as hell now.

Pics as soon as I get back from my road trip.
