Theres a TON of information on NICO about this engine, wether or not its in the FSM or not... I got an email from someone this afternoon and thought that would be a fantastic idea... Id like to compile this information, and then we can do an article on it or something..... The KEY is here I want anyone to be as involved as possible.. Whatever tidbit that you have that is helpful.. I just dont want a bunch of stupid things like I HATE THE PLENUM or THEY WEDGED THIS ENGINE IN THE CAR... Lets try and keep this technical...

Things I dont want are things not related to the engine... THIS IS ABOUT THE VH45DE!

So ill try and start with some basic things that Ive picked up.... this is from the FSM.. So any other tidbits that arent from the FSM is good... BTW if this info is wrong please correct...

Are the injector top feed or side and are the low or high resistance, maybe even add the actual ohms??

Low resistance and side feed, 12-14ohms is the spec.

1991-1994: 8 individual cast aluminum intake manifolds, each feeding into dual ports. Each manifold has a cylinder number cast on one side which faces towards the valvecover when installed.

Intake manifold #8 also retains a side bracket that houses one of the fuel pressure regulators

Intake manifold to cylinder head bolts are 12mm, 2 per manifold(Length & thread pitch?)

Intake to Cylinder Head gasket is metal (Thickness?)

They changed it in 94 to a single opening instead of the 2 openings.

Didn't they also swap the 8 manifolds out for a single intake manifold somewhere along the line?

Not in the VH45, in the VH41 maybe.

I noticed this thread has fallen a little behind.

So, How much boost do you think the stock internals can handle if temperature is not a factor?

All i can say is that Slim is running about 10lbs, and it has PROVEN to be reliable. he drove it for over 2 hours each way to come to NOPI..... took it on a large drifting session earlier this week and its all good... He has stock internals AND a stock ECU with only the JWT Boost ECU!

SO much torque on this that people say they can see the chassis flexing!

Actually it'd be 1.68bar wes. 1 bar equals outside pressure. You're thinking of a pressure gauge, not a barometer

Actually elwesso is correct 10PSI equals .6894757 bar to be exact. 1.68 bar is 24.36634 PSI, that would be a lot of boost!

Well, considering that at sea level 1 bar is atmospheric pressure.

anything under one bar is lower then atmospheric pressure, which by definition is a vacuum.

A "boost gauge" is actually a pressure gauge, not a barometer. When it says 0, it's 0 above atmospheric pressure.

Whereas a barometer starts out at 14.7PSI, which is equal to one bar.

So depending on how you look at it, we're both right, BUT sinse he said the word "bar" that implies barometer

24.36634psi - 10psi = 14.3psi, close to atmospheric

1 pound per square inch = 0.07031 kilo per square centimeter (1 kilo per square centimeter = 14.22282 pounds per square inch )

So it would be .70 ksc = 10 psi = .69 bar

psia = psig + atmospheric pressure @ sea level (14.7psi)

I know Wes meant psig , which is what I wanted to know. But since this is supposed to be THE ULTIMATE FAQ on the VH45DE, I should have spelled it out more clearly.

'91 VH45DE cam tower bolts require a T-30 Torx bit.

(Clean out each bolt Prior to attempting removal !!)

I didn't get 1 completely clean & stripped out the bolt.
