zozo, would just be happy with the light off!! REALLY don't want those guys tearing out my engine and putting in another.....Not unless it's a G37 engine!!

No problem about the jack Tampa!!!

Thanks G!

infinitidude, the latest EX loaner is CLEAN inside and the steering wheel works!! Wife likes the car, I don't.

Talked to Infiniti this AM. The advisor clarifiied herself by stating that Infiniti wanted to rule out the oil by replacing it with M1 5W30 (same as I use) SINCE I do not get my oil serviced there!

I told the advisor that IF this FIXES my engine light, then I REALLY need to talk to somebody there that can explain how this could have FIXed it.......She went on to say she didn't think it would FIX it either, but they wanted to follow what the Infiniti Tech line suggested.

Sounds like they have no idea what it is. After the oilchange they will still keep it and the tech will be driving it or you'll get it back and you have to drive it?

I think you will have a new engine in it soon. What scares me the most if they can't fix this one how the hell they will do a good job replacing your engine. Sorry Rich did not meant to scare you but that just scares me.

Try to get them to cut you a good deal for a trade.

G37 might say. LOL Maybe an X badge at the back.

Yes, that would!!

I called to remind them that they did replace the timing chain tensioner a couple of months ago....could this be relating to a TIMING ISSUE????

The advisor tells me the Techs at the Tech Line work from 10AM to 4PM with a 2 hour lunch break!!

+1

I also think he got a raw deal.

If there is going to be a politics forum as part of a car forum then all opinions should be accepted as long as there is no name calling. Even Northeast liberals should be welcome There are some on the politics forum that if you disagree with them they appear to go postal.

Threadjack - Sorry Rich..

Ok, I think most of you can't argue that I'm a pretty level headed and fair MOD...agree?

That being said... yes we liked having Jacko here in the G forum because he brought some laughs and light hearted conversations. And alot of the times some kind of sexual inuendo about his car.

Tampa..do you KNOW Jacko? Do you REALLY know what he did/does for a living...or just what he proclaimed to do? Because if you read some of his posts or "arguements" he certainly doesn't come accross as a professor. YOU CANNOT TELL ME THAT SOME OF HIS POSTS MADE YOU SHAKE YOU HEAD AND BE LIKE

Keep in mind this is the net and you will encounter ALL walks of life.

Jacko was asked to stay out of the Politic forum. He was allowed to post anywhere on NICO that he wanted but not there. I mean seriously...did you guys even read some of his posts there?? They made absolutely no sense. So weird posts like that are not welcome in there. They were completely over the top and all he did was piss people off there who were trying to have a serious discussion. So although 5-6... ok maybe even 10 members here in the G forum are upset that he is gone (according to you Zozo because I have no idea who emailed you). FAR more members are glad that he's gone....trust me.

Some of you guys need understand, you only see one side of the coin. He was only given a "time out" aka 1 week off. HE decided to take it further and basically start emailing everyone and their mother making demands for apologies etc and basically threats about badmouthing NICO AND Greg (the owner). THAT sealed his fate to a permaban.

I personally hate that forum. I stay away from it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but don't troll or egg people on and try to get a rise out of them. I mean holy crap, if I remember correctly he was trying to compare smoking a joint to adding to polluting the environment or something to that effect..

He was asked MANY times to spell Greg's name correctly, yet he consistantly spelled it Gregg ... that can eventually get damn irratating. Did he do it on purpose....

Anyways, I had to respond because I know some of you think it was unfair, but from the emails I saw and what was said...it was FULLY justified IMO.

To be honest, my self-imposed sabbatical had nothing to do with jacko....And, we all must remember that we are 'guest' in somebody else's house and should act accordingly.

Sooooo, no word from my Infiniti buddys today....guess they are still changing the oil in my car watching for the light to go out! Hope they don't cross-wire the connuter valve!!

Well, they wiped out the code, changed the oil.....and want me to drive it some to see if it comes back on....They said there will be no charge for the oil change! Like I was thinking I was going to pay!!

OK, so lots of bad verbs and nouns come to mind, but I will show restraint!!

Actually, they wanted the tech to drive it for the weekend.

So they wiped out the code but don't know what threw it in the first place?

So they're attitude is basically "out of sight..out of mind"

The SES light came back on! BIG FREAKING SHOCK!!!Has an oil change EVER fixed a SES light issue????

Anyway, Renee went up to ASU to help Rachel pack to come home and it came on on the way home. This was last Wednesday. I called that PM and told the service advisor to please have a loaner ready for me Thursday PM when I would drop it off. Had an appointment.Called today to get a status update.

They JUST did here back from the 'Infiniti Tech Line'. These are the guys that work from 9 to 2 with a 2 hour lunch break I'm told.

Anyway, the adviser tells me the code was a P0011

I did tell her that had they not had a loaner program and had I not lived only 3 miles away, I would NOT BE SO FREAKING PATIENT!!!!

Actually, I was nice to her. Not her fault, and you get more out of people if you are nice, but firm.

Soooo, three times now and they don't have a clue.

Here's some info I pulled up on the P0011 from a different website:

The codes relate to the intake valve timing control. This is not the camshaft angle sensor or the crank angle sensor. Basically, Nissan uses variable valve timing and what is going on is the variable valve timing is sticking. This was a problem on older Nissan cars. After 1999 the problem was pretty much corrected. Now, you say that after the oil was changed the problem goes away for a time. Just to let you know, the variable valve timing uses oil and the variation in oil pressure to advance and retard valve event timing. What this means to you is that your oil is probably dirty, gummed up, and the oil galleries are clotted. I would first change to Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W30 and see if that clears it up. It will probably take two changes to get it cleared up. If this does not do the trick you will end up having the valve covers taken off and the eccentric cams removed and cleaned or replaced. So, hope the oil changes do the trick. I would change the oil and drive it for at least 1000 miles and then change the oil again. Also, if the car is not running at operating temperature change the thermostat. A cold engine, as in a bad thermostat, will cause the oil to gum up since it never reaches temperature. So, be sure to see if it is running at normal temperature. Also, on the thermostat, purchase it from Nissan. It is really expensive at the dealer, but courtesynissan.com is a place you can get a thermostate at a reasonable price. The Nissan unit includes the thermostat neck and the thermostat is screwed to it. If you are going to get one be sure to get the gasket too, since it does not come with one.

The codes referred to within are P0011 and P0021.

Thanks, good info!!

Yeah, they replaced that part the first time in.Then, they changed the oil the second time in.Now, I have used M1 Fully Syn at the first oil change and change it between 3 and 3.5K miles. soooo, do not know what the deal is....I think they need to give up on my 3.5 and just upgrade it to a 3.7

This is the first time I've ever brought a car back to a dealership for the third time...Not sure I've ever returned a car for a second time.

Anything is "possible"...but it will not be cheap. A G35 with FI would be a better bet.

THey heard back from the 'Infiniti Tech' gods and they advise replacing the camshaft sprocket and a T gasket??

So, if that's the case, not sure if they have to take the rocker covers off...If so, they need to check the gaskets to see if they are leaking.

Going to go talk to them and swap the EX35 for a G-anything!!! Since the adviser said that they may have our car til next week.....Sorry, don't like the EX at all.

Is warranty work the LOWEST priority? OR, is the Infiniti shop SO dependent upon these 'Infiniti Tech' gods to get anything approved??OR, are they SO dependent upon corporate??

Went by Infiniti to talk to the tech.Evidentally, they just cracked open the front of the engine........TODAY! They've had the car since May 7th.The tech was very nice and admitted that they had had some issues in the service dept. with stuff getting backed up. Very professional guy. He didn't find any issues in the oil pan either. Said the engine looked very clean. The Y gasket/plate looked fine, so might be the sprockets. He was waiting on the Infiniti Tech line to call back because he wanted to replace another part while he was at it.

Feel better after talking to the tech.

Got a call from the head adviser (took over my case). He said that the tech foreman was OKed by Infiniti to replace all hydraulic components on the engine. They were over nighting parts yesterday.

Also will be pulling to valve covers, so I requested that they check for oil on the plugs and replace covers if needed.

Probably won't know much til next Wednesday.

I can't wait to here what they are gonna do with your G.... it is a little sad at this point when the techs don't really know what the problem is!
