I'm back in Yokohama now. I finished up Usui and Myogi and thought I throw up a few more preview pictures.

Please enjoy.

Did things a little backwards. This is the finish line of Usui's touge. The finish line is actually the border between Gunma and Nagano. So here is the border picture where it ends.

part of Usui. I was surprised to later learn this was Keichi Tsuchiya's home course.

I climb trees to give you all the best shots of Usui.

A hachi just kickin it on the side of the road at Usui

The start line for Usui's touge.

I also got a picture of the C-121 turn that was made famous in Initial D but it's on my gfs camera so I'll have to show it later.

Start of the Myogi course. To the left is the parking area where the nigh kids from the show would meet up.

View from the guardrail in the middle of Myogi course looking at a pretty part of the mountain.

Another shot of part of the road on Myogi.

The finish of the course is somewhere between where my gf is standing and where my skyline is parked. Where the skyline is, there was a huge open paved area with ALOT of tire marks from various hooligans "getting ****ty" with their vehicles. I also proceeded to lay down some tire rubber myself and did a few donuts before leaving.

More myogi. The course is really reall high up.

more

view from the guardrail looking down at the town at the base of the mountain. It's really really really high up. If you managed to slide your car off the edge and through the guardrail, you'd have a fair amount to time to contemplate your impending doom before you hit the ground.

I forgot to mention earlier that Gunma has a large wild monkey problem. Monkies are famous for being violent and stealing food from people here. While I was at the kogen falls at nikko, a monkey actual walked up into a store, grabbed a bag of food, and walked out and returned to the forest. Also, while driving to Akagi, I saw a whole family of monkies, maybe 5 or 6, on the side of the road just chillin looking for someone to group maul. Anyway, this very old sign on the side of the touge read "DONT FEED THE MONKIES" and "DONT SHOW MONKIES FOOD" and "DONT APPROACH THE MONKIES". probably because if you did show them theyd claw you to death then steal the food you were eating then move their family into the car you owned before being killed by monkies.

It just so happens that near the entrance to Myogi, there was a highway onramp. Oh, a sidenote for some of you complaining about gas prices in America. Every time I filled my car up here on this trip, it was about $100-$110. Also, the highway tolls there were $40 and $35 on the way back. so go boo hoo about your $60 gas tanks.

I'm working on the full write up on the whole trip and how you can do it yourself. I also took video of running each of the courses so if you want to be a nerd like me and compare it to the courses in the initial d game, you can. Be careful though of monkies and mammoth sized flying insects in the region.

I've seen some pics and blogs about Japan and some touges and stuff like that but this is sick! I saw a couple episodes of initialD, but just seeing the scenery or japan is awesome, keep up the great shots!

I want to buy that highway and rent RWD cars on both ends.

Your gf has pretty tanned skinned for a Japanese girl. I'm sure she's a rare find. All the more reason to be envious.

Ok, because of this thread I think I've decided to extend my trip to TAS 09 by a week, because I MUST go there. Soooo jealous.

I may have to drive a rental Tiida or something lame, but it'll be worth it to check that place out. I've always been an Initial D fan anyway.

I love Initial D. These pictures you have are awesome, thank you for taking the time to share these with us.

...funny you didn't take pictures when you were driving in the rain. You could have had a "rain battle" shot

Yes, he is, and so am I.

He lives in Kanagawa-ken, and I am in Saitama-ken.

Bring yourself down to Daikoku some night when you have time.
