So... The Car Gods Hate me....., But at least God still likes me.

Sunday before New Years, I was trying to get the car running before 08.

Got the harness from Carl. CheckSemi sorted out the Turbo lines. Check (without water)(If anyone has an extra RB Banjo Bolt for the Water, Please let me know)Plugged in the MAF, Charged then hooked up the battery, then tried to start the car. I was sooo crapped out for a sec, because the car cranked but didn't start. Then, I remembered that I was a Dumbass, I forgot to plug in the ECU. Duhh....Did that, tried again. Crap forgot to plug in the Relay's, Double Duhhh....(My Ex was a Blonde..... Rubbed off)Then I try yet again, Vrooommm.... Sputter sputter Sputter......

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!The car fired up for a sec, the died out, wouldn't start no matter how many times I cranked. I looked at my Fuel pressure gauge and it said 0 I thought it was kinda odd, but I brushed it off. Valve timing is perfect, Ignition timing should be decent. I haven't put a timing light on her yet. But the car ran before w/o the maf and it purred like a Snarling Tiger Kitten. lol The car used to have about 40 psi but over time it would drop slowly, but since the car was outside I never smelled any fuel.

So I smelled fuel and I knew it had ignition so I was feeling really crappy. The garage reeked of gas, so I left the garage door partially open. And hooked up a fan to air it out. I thought I just seriously flooded the motor. The next day the garage still reeked of gas, and since the door was partially open the landscapers had blown a whole bunch of dried up leaves in my garage. So I go to sweep them out and I looked behind the car has a huge pool of dried up gas and dried up leaves. Like I mean a whole bag worth. So I'm lucky my house didn't catch a fire.

(Forgot to mention 2 years ago when I got this shell I changed the gas tank from my other S13)

So today I pulled the hatch for the fuel pump looked at the lines, everthing looked ok. I was like crap gotta pull down the whole tank. Yes, I'm very lazy.So I start pulling down the shrouds and i see the lines. In the middle of one looks wet. So i'm trying to see where or what is dripping on that line to drip down. (not thinking that, that line is the source) Can't see anything. So then I grab the line and for a sec see a crack, then I squeeze it.The line was dry rotted as was the other fuel line.Pic:

So I think I can change this line without having to drop the tank.So after I do that I just gotta extend my Throttle Switch and TPS connectors.Because I have a aftermarket ITM, forgot to tell Carl when he had my harness.

Here's a pic of my car ready to start

The pics may be huge or really tiny, I suck with photobucket.

So soon the President may step down. (hopefully...... )

haha Nice work Brian! Finally got it to the point of running with only a minor setback! Post up a startup video when you get one. They always sound rough and sick, but great nonetheless. Who will be our next NRRBA President? Have you appointed a successor? This is no democracy, strict dictatorship.

There for a minute I thought you were gonna say you had the fuel lines switched. Its actually kind of a blessing that the fuel lines leaked before the car started. Fuel leaks are much scarier going down the road than they are in the garage before the car runs. Good luck with the startup.

TJ - Def hit me up when your down here.I'm down in Ft. Lauderdale, South FL

Yeah Los - Stricnyne would def be the runner up. Since Darius sorta has his running.

Well I fixed the fuel line easily. But then cut the connectors off the TPS and Throttle Switch and solder them onto my new harness.Tried to start it....Won't start!!!!! Arggghhhh!!!!!It started without the maf and the hose that goes to the IACV and the Air regulator Plugged. Then I realized that the TPS was loose and all the way down. So I pulled the batt off and then set it in the middle, just anywhere close.Just so at least it would start up.

But no it's F'd up, I have to play with the TPS some more tomorrow.

Yeah I'm def lucky it happened now and not on the street. Big Fire go Boom.

I would definetly reccomend that everyone check that line. Especially if you have a older car.Because that line was so brittle and cracked up.

Question... Does your Fuel pressure go up to 40 then start coming down when you turn off the car, or should it stay 40 or close to it???

fuel pressure will come down from 40 once the car is turned off as the line de pressurizes.

yeah guys, we had the maf plugged up and connected to the plenum (no ic piping) . but no fire .. then we took off the MAF and disconnected it, that made it fire up and rev high i noticed the hose for the aac wasnt hooked up so we plugged it and knew that was the reason for the high rev... but what is the deal with the MAF when connected- no fire up , disconnected- fired right up . even when it fired i put the maf back on and as soon as i connected it, it died out

tonight ill bring my MAF maybe it just a faulty maf ....

guys any ideas for "the commander in chief "

Well if Carl did the wiring I would say, get a MAFS since it's probably wired right.

This weekend I'll be able to get my hands on my friends MAF.

But the car doesn't even start without the MAF.I have no idea what it could be.The only thing I'm hoping for is the TPS being set incorrectly or the wiring maybe mixed up..

The car used to run with the old harnes perfectly other than the MAF would kill the motor. The only changes made since are the new fuel lines to the tank. (PS I reccomend that everyone else should check to see if theirs are dry rotting) But I do have 43psi at the rail.

The little metal box on harness is gone.Carl said that it does nothing, and the car did run without it (forgot to plug it in one time). The wiring is definetly right because Carl did it.

The TPS was moved, so that is what i'm banking on right now.

If anyone else has any idea whats up, please shoot me some ideas. More heads are better than one.

If you tilt the TPS down 3/4's of the way right it should at least start for you as that's about where the stock setting is. Just my two pennies.

Yeah I can't wait to drive her.I got some 1/2" heater hose, that I'm gonna use for the IACV. I wanna put it down by the injectors so its not so noticeable.

Well actually where does everyone else without a stock ITM route there IACV hose to????I know it has to be in front of the Tbody and after the MAF.

Los I can't wait to see yours!!!!!Your gonna need to do that Q45 diff swap.

Yeah it seems that the ECU wasn't in correctly....

I was sooo excited the phone was the first thing I grabbed.

As soon as she's driving down the road, i'll pass the crown. And I think so far Stricnyne is gonna be taking my place.

Coolwhip are you talking about the nice frilly one. That was for your eyes only. LOL

Check it out!!!!!!IC piping DONE, Downpipe DONE, Intake DONE!!!!!Started her up at 11pm finally with the exhaust and she sound sooooooo CLEAR and nice. Doesn't break up at all and is really nice! But apparantly its pretty loud because a neighbor from across the street asked me to shut it off. His kids were sleepin. So that was it for the night.

I didn't get to drive it because I need to adjust the clutch pedal. I couldn't get the car into gear.

I for some reason my BOV did not open up.Maybe since I was just free reving it didn't build any boost.

Also that big coil of wire is my EGT wire.I took this pic right before I went to bed

Tonight I'm gonna adjust the clutch, put in the boost controller/gauge, Tach, egt, water and oil gauges in.And adjust the TPS.

I'll also try to get a vid too.
