although i do find this very hard to believe because to my knowledge, when you go through this kind of trauma...dosent your body usually go into shock? if so, how would it be possible to repel down a cliff? wouldnt he have lost conciousness?

Thats what the hell im thinkin about! He'd go into shock! But then again you have a 800 lb rock on your arm, pain probably aint gonna get that much worse hell it probably was already ripped open bone crushed etc.

I carry a Gerber multi-tool and a Spyderco Delica II Stainless among other things when I hit the mountains. Here in the desert anything can happen really. I also carry a 22magnum revolver in the event I come up on something hostile.

IF... and that is a biggie. I had to amputate my own arm, I imagine I would use the pistol to shoot through the bone instead of twisting/torqueing it to break. My "spidey" is always razor sharp and never abused. I imagine the tournequete offered some degree of numbness so I'm sure he didnt feel all of it. But DDamn !
